Action-packed Bronson time-filler.......2006-07-21

Typical Bronson actioner where he plays a gun for hire using a helicopter to get American businessman, Robert Duvall, out of a Mexican prison. Randy Quaid plays Bronson's assistant, and Bronson's then real-life wife, Jill Ireland, plays the wife of Duvall desperate to get her husband out. Director Tom Gries also directed the highly acclaimed western, "Will Penny" in 1968.

Made in 1975, this was a signature Bronson film that unfortunately typecast this highly talented actor who was unusually adept at a variety of roles as his wide body of work in film and television and in both the USA and abroad would attest. After these films, Bronson would later star in the highly-successful "Death Wish" series of film for which he is probably most known.

This film's action sequences, especially the helicopter rescue, will certainly keep you on the edge of your seat.

LIFE IMITATING ART.......2004-12-27

When BREAKOUT was released in 1975, it was shown at Jackson State Prison (Michigan). Several days later, someone tried to break an inmate out of the prison using a helicopter. Unlike the film it failed. But another classic example of life imitating art. The prisoners would have been better off trying to get an imitation of Sheree North in (the)black lingerie (sequence). BREAKOUT is yet again another enjoyable Bronson time waster, not of the caliber of his work with Michael Winner, but still worth a look. The Jerry Goldsmith score is first rate as expected.

Great For Bronson Fans!.......2004-12-05

Once again Charles Bronson plays the role of the hero.The lead
lady in the movie is played by Jill Ireland.She hires Bronson to
break her husband out of a Mexican prison.According to the movie
rhetoric,when you go to prison in Mexico you never come out again.You have to make note that Randy Quaid plays the role of
his mechanic.You also have an appearance by Robert Duvall in the
movie.He was riding high after his role in the Godfather.After
being hired by the wifw played by Jill Ireland Bronson decides
to use a helicopter to break the husband out of the Mexican
prison.The escape sequence is very exciting as well as action
packer.During this time period Bronson was making a lot of movies.This was one of them.

Not as good as it might have been..........2004-03-20

Here we have a very talkative Charles Bronson in a sub-par prison escape film. It seemed like more of a comedy than anything else. A nice turn by Randy Quaid as Bronsons goofy mechanic and a small part for Duvall. I still can't figure out why on the theatrical poster it shows a helicopter flying with a man dangling from a rope!?! It never happened in this movie but it is fun nonetheless. Just make sure you've checked out The White Buffalo, Stone Killer and St. Ives before you bother with this.

A Must For Christian Family DVD Library.......2006-02-26

I purchased the entire Story Keepers DVD collection when our son was born. I'd seen a preview of the collection on a TV infomercial and was impressed with the engaging cartoons. Our son is now four years old and he absolutely loves the stories and characters in these wonderful animated Christian DVDs.

The adventures take place in Rome 64 AD. The main characters are a group of children left orphaned during Nero's cruel persecution of Jerusalem. The kids are taken in by the kind baker Ben and his loving wife, Helena. Meeting with other Christians in secret, they tell the stories of fellow believers. They strive to keep alive the stories of Jesus and they become known as The Story Keepers.

These stories are fast paced, nicely narrated, and very engaging. The animation is adequately done, though not on a caliber with Disney or the large animation studios. The backgrounds are more elaborate and much better than the character illustration which is rather plain.

However, the quality of the stories and the endearing characterizations more than make up for the average animation. As a Christian parent you'll feel confident in sharing these DVDs with your children.

Fun for 15 minutes.......2007-08-29

I was disappointed with this DVD game. The computer graphics used in it were nice, but the content was dull.

It's comprised of 7 or so mini games. Some examples are :

- a Memory-style card matching game. This was okay.

- a simple Maze game in which you must navigate your way by making 2 decisions. This was too simplistic

- a Scene It style game of remembering details from a 1990's era Marvel cartoon. The cartoons were dull as were the questions.

- a trivia game (my favorite part since it used obscure questions in the hard level)

- a roof top jumping game. This was poorly executed. You're given a 1st person view of jumping off the roof (Is this such a good idea?). And then you must press a button at the right time without much of a visual cue.

As rewards for finishing a mini game, you are given a short animation clip of villains getting jailed. The animation is 3D but all the characters are 2D clip art. So you will see your favorite characters shrinking, growing, or rotating.

There is no educational aspect of this game besides trivia of Marvel superheroes.

The board game aspect seemed to be thrown in to make it more valuable. Basically, you roll a die to move around a board. When your cardboard character reaches a square, you play that mini game on the TV.

One nice aspect was the implementation of 3 difficulty levels to let people of different ages play. The DVD also keeps score.

But if you really wanted to see a fun use of Marvel characters, buy the video game Marvel Ultimate Alliance instead. You could play that for dozens of more hours.

OK, well those were 2 of the worst movies I have seen in a while.......2006-09-13

DRUNKEN MASTER KILLER(aka DRUNKEN MASTER 3-this is the film that Master Lau Kar Leung went to make after leaving the set of drunken master 2(with Jackie Chan). I think he was fired but doubt he would ever admit it and no way in hell I would question him. This movie here has to be one of the top 3 or 4 worst movies Lau has ever directed. There is no drunken style in this movie except a couple of mentions of it, seriously. There was one scene where I cracked a smile but that was all the enjoyment I got out of this movie. So we have Gordon Liu in this, along with superstars Andy Lau, Lau Kar Leung, Michelle Reis, Simon Yam , and Adam Cheng. Then we have some white guy who is supposed to be the main bad guy and he is like 5 foot 5 inches weighing in at maybe 140 pounds. Too many problems to go over with by I will sum it up by saying that Andy Lau was the ONLY character that I enjoyed. When Andy Lau is the only good thing in a Lau Kar Leung film, we have serious problems.

BREAKOUT OF OPRESSION-I may have actually liked this more than Drunken Master 3 but it is still a horrible movie. One thing to look out for is Dean Shek in a non comedic role. He is like the person we feel sorry for in this. The one thing to watch this movie for is Gordon Liu. This may actually be his first movie. I am not going to go over the story becasue their really was none. I will tell you that I saw the Lau brohter's credited for the action direction and the action is very well choreographed. Nice hand movements but that was literally the only good thing about this movie. Hey, at least I liked about 5 minutes of this movie.

I was stuck between a 1 and a 2 but I just can't allow myself to give Master lau the lowest rating possible(but he deserves it).
