Description
The Marshall Tucker Band celebrates the release of its first full-length concert on DVD with Live From The Garden State 1981 from their legendary 1981 MTV concert. MTB's homemade blend of rock, country and jazz featured the band's acclaimed songwriter and guitarist, Toy Caldwell. The band found enormous success during the 1970s, with most of their albums going gold. This DVD features the original lineupwith the exception of Tommy Caldwell, who died the year beforeperforming the best material from their classic period. It's an essential release!

A question, not a review.......2007-08-24
I am trying to remember all the concerts I have ever been to and I know that I went to see Marshall Tucker and Orleans opened for them at the Providence Civic Center. I think it was the winter (not sure) but can't remember what year. I have tried looking for archival files for either Marshall Tucker, Orleans and Providence Civic Center but with no luck. Anyone remember that concert and if so, what year (and month). Thanks.
A Wonderful Momento.......2007-04-22
4 stars:
This footage was shot in the early MTV days. At times, the camera was slow in focusing in on the given performer showcasing a solo... At times, sound anomalies surfaced sporadically during the performance...
That being said, there is plenty of clean, close, and crisp footage of one of the most talented bands in rock history performing during their "classic" period. A bonus interview with various MTB members and other guest musicians rounds out the package nicely.
The bottom line: This is worth the money.
Shoot the sound engineer.......2007-02-21
I always thought of Marshall as being way ahead of its time. What a wonderful blend of Southern Fried Rock, jazz and blues. Taking a hint from Jethro Tull and adding the flute gave them their distinct sound.--- It is painful to listen to the audio on this disc. Who did this? Katel? Sounds like it was remastered using two tin cans and a string! I have a great sound system, but not even that could make this disc sound good. If I was the engineer that remastered this concert, I would not put my name in the credits. I gave the disc two stars due to the historical value of the event. If there is any other footage of the original lineup out there, lets hope it will be handled with the reverence it deserves.

Great dvd,in spite of some reviews I read critisising the audio or camera work. Those people must not be die-hard MTB fans like me.
Good Concert.......2007-01-17
Not my favorite concert DVD, but it's not bad either. The camera work wasn't the greatest (especially when the camera would zoom in elsewhere when Caldwell would be doing some great solo), but if you're a MTB fan, as myself, get it.
