Only SRV Could Do Hendrix Justice.......2007-09-08

Included on this DVD is footage from two concerts, two appearances on television's "Austin City Limits." I thought this was easily the best of the three Stevie Ray concert tapes (DVDs) I've seen. All of them are good, however.

Most of this is from the 1989 concert but I enjoyed the three songs from the '83 concert the most. They seemed to be the most intense and the most impressive. The latter adjective mainly describes his work on "Voodoo Chile." To my knowledge, Vaughan is the only guitarist to successfully imitate the late-and-great Jimi Hendrix. (Although SRV's vocals aren't as good.)

After 40-some minutes of rocking blues and rock, there is a change-of-pace and beautifully done jazz instrumental called "Riviera Paradise." Featured on that piece is keyboard player, "Reese Wynans," who does an outstanding job.

This is a feel-good, great music and most of it would make for a good aerobic-workout music, too.

What a way to go out! The last performance on Austin City Limits for the BEST guitar player there ever was and will ever be! This DVD captivates all that Stevie is, and we are lucky to have it around.

SRV at his finest. Again, the time periods of the two (2) perfomances are very insightful as to the developement of Stevie as a performer. Undoubtably he felt a true sense of accomplishment on what would be his last and final return to Austin City Limits. A true gem and a historic achive in musical history.

Great DVD.......2007-07-28

This DVD was exactly what I was looking for. Stevie probably wouldn't be considered a "trained" singer, but that doesn't matter in the least. In my opinion, which isn't humble, I consider his guitar work to be unsurpassed. This DVD is a combination of two concerts, and they are both excellent. I certainly do not regret purchasing this, and would encourage anyone interested in blues guitar mastery, to pick up this DVD.
