Find Waldo..........2005-12-22
From 63:45 through 63:50 on the DVD, can you spot the biker chick in the crowd flashing her t*ts at the camera? Worth the price of admission alone! I have a few comments about some of the other comments made here. Yes, the sound is a bit compressed, and the vocals on the first half of the DVD are quite low. The low vocals seem to improve considerably in the latter portion of the concert, but really, what 38 Special fan doesn't know all the words to these songs already? Lips and instruments out of sync with the audio? Yep, from time to time, just a hair. But I have seen this on many videos, and films, not just concerts. Some DVD's on some players just don't get along well and display this synch problem. I don't think it's fair to suggest this concert was overdubbed. If they went through that trouble, they would have improved the overall dynamics and detail at the same time. Definitely not recorded by some guy in the crowd with a camcorder. Yes, one particular camera solid-mounted somewhere mid-to-back audience was getting bumped quite often, but they used that camera only a few times. To the contrary, you can see several shots of a couple production guys using actual steady-cams in front of the stage. After seeing this DVD, I was going to buy the CD, until I found out the medley was not on it. Also, the two highest-energy songs of the whole concert are not on the CD: "Living in the USA" and "Travelin' Band". Not 38 Special songs, but man, those two songs were the best, highest-energy performances of the entire concert. I guess it's time to burn the audio track of this DVD onto a CD and call it a winner!
It does'nt sound that bad ........2005-01-12
I too have been a .38 Special fan since the very early '80s.
I read all of the reviews on this DVD and decided to buy it
anyway. Well, although (some) of the vocals are low, they are
just a little bit low. I had absolutly no problem hearing any
of the lyrics, some of the other reviews make it seem much worse than I think it is. But the actual video and production
is very good. The color is good and the picture is sharp.
It was not filmed with somebodys camcorder. I own the CD
and think the sound is very close, but not quite as
good. Hence, only the four stars. But I highly recomend it.
Buy the CD, NOT THIS DVD!.......2004-03-13
First of all, I love 38 Special and love every song in this concert. I listened to their Live at Sturgis concert on CD for over a year before ever viewing it on DVD. After much anticipation to see the concert as it was performed that day, the DVD left me very disappointed. Maybe I'm spoiled on Bruce Springsteen concerts produced by Jon Landau, but the video footage from this concert is "decent" only if judged by early `80s VHS standards. I found it pathetic and the audio poor as well. Hopefully these guys will do a modern filming production of a concert some day. Until then, buy the CD instead.

ROCKIN'...into the night and I AM feeling good tonight!!!
I am sick and tired of all the techno-geeks wondering this and imagining that...
38 Special is one of the greatest bands of all time. With crisp vocals from Don Barnes, addictive attitude from Donnie Van Zant, power bass provided by the creative and devoted Larry Junstrom, Danny Chauncey guitar leads, Bobby Capps and Gary Moffatt, I am GRATEFUL to be the proud owner of this DVD!
Let's cut through the chase. If you remember how to rock, how to party, and how to bounce up and down with great classic MUSIC, then you will thoroughly enjoy this concert DVD Video, as a collector's item, performed at Sturgis.
Give it up to 38 Special.
Disappointing audio.......2002-10-25
Great looking concert but fair audio. Vocals are weak and hard to understand, music sounds flat and compressed like listening through a tin can.
