Just about every Friday night, we have friends over to listen to various concert DVDs. After having a few mellow weeks, I thought we'd try Bon Jovi. This DVD was a HUGE disappointment to us. The problem is that there is no indication whatsoever (that I could see) telling you that this concert was going to have the band singing all of the songs in ballad style. "Bad Medicine" sung like a ballad? No thanks. We basically fast forwarded through the entire show, giving each song a few minutes and then realizing we didn't like it. I hope to find another Bon Jovi concert DVD that will make me happy.

To those that are disappointed in people giving this a bad review, it's different strokes for different folks. I don't think this takes anything away from the true talent Bon Jovi has, however, I will maintain that I'm simply not a fan of the band trying to sing their songs differently when so many people are used to what Bon Jovi has been for years. When you hear a song a certain way for so long, it's difficult for some to hear it sung differently.

The subtitle for this DVD should be "Leave your preconceptions at the door", because if you`re prone to putting Bon Jovi into the box of "metal/scream-yourself-silly/stadium rock ONLY" bands of "when I was a kid in the 80s" time, you`re sure to be disappointed with this DVD, as they have slowed down their anthemic hits to jazzy/bluesy rhythms, turning some of them (e.g., Livin` on a Prayer and It`s My Life) into ballads. I never cared too much about their big hits (though, I sure did like them when they played on MTV or radio) with screeching guitars and near-falsetto singing, so This Left Feels Right was something I approached with somewhat skeptical curiosity - will there be anything left to the songs once you take the noise off? Well, since getting that CD and truly being able to LISTEN and HEAR the song lyrics Bon Jovi music has turned out for me a pleasant surprise. So, I just had to have this DVD and I haven`t been disappointed by it since. In fact, it has turned me into a real fan of the band, which has meant going halfway accross Europe to their "Have a Nice Day Tour" (and, yes, singing myself silly to their "traditional" hit arrangements), laying my hands on most of their albums and rediscovering their music all over again. This DVD as well as the TLFR CD comes as close to having the band play an intimate show in your living room as possible. The band`s versatility and ability to change yet retain their distinction is what allows them to survive in this day and age when music is more a PR job than talent. A must-have for an intelligent fan!

John Bon Jovi reworks all of the great Bon Jovi hits with a little twist on all of them. Richie Sambora is really good playing several guitar styles and singing backup. I really enjoyed this DVD and I never really liked Bon Jovi before during all the hair music era. This small venue concert was really good.

i agree 100% with Brian, I bought this for my friends birthday expecting to have a rock-n-roll jammin' good time, it's slow & just not fun at all. very disapointing & a waste of my hard-earned money!

I LOVE this dvd!!! I think it just adds to the evidence that Bon Jovi is the greatest band out there! They take songs we all know and love and totally revamp them into something new... it's like an entirely new collection of songs. You have to think of them as NEW songs and not re-dos or you won't enjoy this. If you can let go of the oldies for a couple of hours you'll love this dvd! Jon is super hot in it too! The lounge style of singing definitely works for him! I give it two thumbs way way up!

Nowhere on the DVD cover does it tell you that these are all accoustic versions/performances of all their best songs - read the reviews of the CD for this performance to see more "rip off moans". This is real go to sleep and stay there music. I can't believe Bon Jovi would regale their fans with watered down wishy washy versions of what were great rock numbers !!

Punk band? pop band? metal band? hair band? what are Bon jovi?
I havent figured it out myself but they have blown out of all those categories with this DVD, Aided by some people from some band fromsome place Bon Jovi perform their greatest hits with a twist. Its had a lot of contraversy around it, summed up by my friends description of it as "trrrrripe like..." (He's a scouser) but i and many others can feel what these songs are about. Unlike as youve heard them before the songs performed arent fast, nor are they "rock" but they reveal the words behind the songs. (Demonstarted well in "Livin' on a prayer" where tommy is forced to "hock" his "six string") If you like CD's like "keep the faith" and "These days" then this is the DVD for you but if you prefer the bands poodle haired antics in the 80's hard rock times such as livin' on a prayer, runaway and in and out of love you may be more suited to the fantastic crush tour or live from london... Buy it anyway cause if u still have that mentality you may grow up an a few years.
