There is no plot. There are no actors. This is your brain... on trance. Paul Oakenfold's 2001 album of Goa trance remixes has been transformed into a multidimensional experience. (The liner notes define "Goa trance" as "a fusion of acid trance and tribal beats.") Ten London-based musicians, including Man With No Name and the Infinity Project, provide the pulsating soundtrack, while artist Yo Suzuki provides the 3-D visuals (don't worry--glasses are included). Over the course of 12 selections, vibrant abstract shapes "dance" to the beat as sampled voices occasionally jump into the fray. That's about it. If you were fascinated by kaleidoscopes as a child, laser shows as a teen, and 2001: A Space Odyssey as an adult, this DVD is for you. While there is little (obvious) variation between tracks, trance isn't about jarring juxtapositions and A Voyage Into Trance is one smooth audiovisual ride. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

5 out of 5 stars Good Music But it doesnt have videos........2007-03-14

Good Music But it doesnt have videos. Just games of lights.

5 out of 5 stars I disagree with the opinion this is for hardcore fans only.......2005-01-26

It's not very often a good recording like Voyage Into Trance comes along. Oakenfold recorded this disc some 10 years ago and has gone back and remastered it.
This is not new.

The reason you would want to own this, however, is because you get some very cool trance tracks mastered into Dolby Digital 5.1
If you have a home theatrte system and you love trance - this is the DVD for you.

Oh and if you like this pick up Underworld - Everything, Everything as well.

4 out of 5 stars Stunning visuals with Oakenfold's vibes.......2004-05-20

As I was loaned a copy, set down and adjusted the 3D glasses, and saying, "Oh, Brother, done this before.",I was ready to be disappointed.
However, who-ever did the visuals has to be commended. NICE JOB!
Yes, about 90% of the 3D visuals work, and there's some repetition (as in the trance music itself (duh)). But there are some parts that will have you laughing and/or saying to yourself, "That's the way 3D is supposed to be".

The music breaks no new ground, as it is "old" Oakenfold, but the music combined with the fun 3D is worth the novelty of the disc. Hear it on a 5.1 system, and as usual the music effects are/ sounds great! In fact, as I write this, I'm buying my own copy, and sending one to a friend. Just for fun.

When was the last time YOU had fun listening to a DVD music disc?

4 out of 5 stars Great DVD.......2004-04-13

This DVD is Paul Oakenfolds Voyage into Trance with Chromadepth 3d visuals. I'm glad I purchased this although I already owned the CD. The visuals make it worth the buy if thats what your looking for. The DVD only comes with 1 set of glasses. I wanted more so others could watch with me and they are available online for purchase. When purchasing them everywhere had a choice between regular glasses and HD glasses for the same price. Their explanation was that the HD is for movies, regular are for still pics/comics. When they arrived I soon realized the DVD comes with the regular glasses and there is definately a noticeable difference. I would recommed getting the HDs especially if your looking to get more so others may view as well. Overall I recommed purchasing this.

3 out of 5 stars Some Good, Some Not So Good...........2004-03-10

Oakenfold rules the treance/techno scene. That's a given. He's nowhere to be found on this DVD though. It is just his album, basically, with a light and laser show. You could get the same effect playing the CD on your computer and watching the show that Windows Player shows. This is just for true fans who rewally feel the need to collect everything with Oakenfold's name on it. Good addition to the collection, though.
