Born on the Berkeley?.......2007-07-26

John Fogerty is not the Cajun Bayou boy he portrays in his music. Born in Berkeley and a true "limousine liberal," he is now and has always been an anti-war and leftist activist. But who cares? After a life and career of side roads and litigation, John brings his classics back to the stage with an enthusiasm and professionalism unmatched in the Boomer music parade. His guitar playing is masterful and original, and his vocals are, well, pure John Fogerty...unique. But the stage presence and easy commaraderie he shares with his side men is just magical. A special delight for me is the twisting of words past the point of recognition as in Bootleg and Fortunate Son. For any Creedence fan, or even those who were just casual listeners, this is a DVD worth having. It is exceptionally well produced and filmed. The excitement on the faces of the multi-generational audience says it all.

The best of the best.......2007-07-22

I have always enjoyed the upbeat sounds of CCR over the years. What Fogerty brings to a music DVD is truly the best of the best. Trademark vocals, upgraded back up band as well as upgraded sound and video technology. You would have never seen anyting like this in the 60s.

Let me start my review by saying that I am a HUGE fan of John Fogerty/CCR. Being born in 1984, I was afraid that I would never get to see him in concert, and now I have been to THREE! I have to say that I was quite pleased but just slightly disappointed with this DVD. The performance on it is great as is the picture quality. I thought that the sound quality was fine; for those who thought it sounded weird, did you try setting the sound to digital surround? The 5.1 surround setting did sound strange to me. If you set it to digital surround, it is much better.
My main problem with this DVD however, is the video. Like I said, the QUALITY is great, buth there is something about the way this DVD (and many of today's concert DVD's) was filmed. The video doesn't actually feel "live". Compare it to the Premonition DVD. This one kind of feels more like you're watching a long music video rather than a concert. Not to mention the sound and video are a bit out of synch.
But anyway, it's still great to have a concert recording of John doing several CCR hits that I never thought he would do live again such as "Bootleg" and "Keep On Chooglin" just to name a few.

I've been a fan of John Fogerty and CCR since their beginning. The students at the high school where I teach ask me to load my Chronicles CDs and play them loud--over and over again. My 83-year-old mom tapped her foot and clapped her hands when I shared The Long Road Home DVD. The smile on her face and the twinkle in her eyes said it all: John Fogerty's music rocks for all ages!

I Hope A Sequel Stands In The Making.......2006-10-12

This is an enjoyable DVD for the most part. But it suffers from different videos of the same songs. I wish every video was for a different song. I grew somewhat tired of watching repeating renditions of Color Me Blood Red, When Forever Comes Crashing, and My Unsaid Everything. Overall, I did like this DVD, just wish it had a more vast song selection. But the footage of entire sets, the downpour video, and the first version of Color Me Blood Red made it worthwhile. The blazing highlight though, was the video of the set they played in some guy's basement, classic. It also gives you a genuine close-up of the utter madness Drummer Ben Koller is capable of. Everytime I see Converge live, he is always the main event for me. I've never seen a man go buck wild on a kit like he can. For everything it lacks, theres still something to make up for it, so yeah, this is a decent DVD to own. Drop a dollar on it why don't ya. And see what made this band legends in the Live show department.

And the downpour video, best video ever made, should have won an award, a great thing to watch at Thanksgiving or any family gathering.

Anyways, the dvd is pretty cool. I wish it had more full concerts. Quality is not that great, but still well worth buying.

Bootleggedly beautiful!.......2004-12-09

Wow... This is an awesome DVD, a very large collection of live footage, mostly bootlegged (yes, the sound quality is sometimes lacking). I think the idea of a bootleg collection is perfect for this very raw band which always performs WITH the crowd, not just FOR the crowd. My only wish is that it had been postponed, so their two newest music videos would be included. Full of old performances with various line-ups, 3 shows in their entirety, and a music video... This is an excellent package, definately worth the price for a fan. If you haven't seen this brutal band live, this will give you a good idea. For example, the singer climbing a mass of thrashing bodies piled on top of eachother during "Conduit." Awesome.

Overrated and a HUGE disappointment........2004-05-16

What follows here is an extremely sloppy DVD that could have turned out as one of the finest memoirs of the Converge live shows. If the footage isn't grainy and poorly shot then the sound is so appaling that everything degenerates into a mash-up of white noise and occaisional snare drums. There are some videos are truly magnificent - "Conduit" and "Colour Me Blood Red" from the early half of the DVD are both magnificent. The DVD fails because it's comprised of footage that the fans have shot - a nice idea in itself, but it's just crap. The song selections are a little bizzare. There a surprising ammount of songs from early releases such as "Caring and Killing" and not enough from the later, more finely honed, releases like "Petitioning.." "When Forever Comes Crashing" and "Jane Doe".

The DVD cannot be faulted for content. Three complete live sets as a bonus and well over 4 hours in total. For the time that Converge invested in selecting footage and making the DVD, I'm surprised at how extremely below par it is.

Avoid unless you've never seen Converge live, are obsessed, or have money to blow.

Definently worth buying.......2003-10-12

Ill be honest, I only have their cd Jane Doe at the moment, but mostly because of this dvd im gonna try to get a couple more of there albums because lets face it, Converge are worth it, these guys are f***ing machines and their live preformances are clearly spectacular!!! I love how the first song on the main side is done with a artistic overtone to it, but i honestly prefer the camera angle that was shown during the Germany showning because in that one the person recording the footage did an exellent job of focusing on each member of the band to the point you could see the fingerings that guitarist is doing and get a great idea of what the drummer is doing visually. you also get to see how they would look from the audiences stand point in that one and its pretty funny how it takes a couple of songs for the specators to actually start moving! but thats only a small unimportant fact in the whole sceam of things, because Converge plays all their songs from Jane Doe you see in this dvd perfectly and all these other songs are amazing and i imagine are done perfectly too. a great buy, and a good way to advertise more of their material!
