Saxon Chronicles Rocks!.......2007-04-19
Saxon Chronicles proves this band is back and
is as great as ever! If you ever were a fan of
this band or metal you need to get this! I've
just got into the 90's stuff like Dogs of War
and the new Inner Sanctum and they are great!
this DVD is packed with classic stuff and the
band performs it awesome! Get it Now!
Love This Band.......2007-03-16
Biff still sounds great and the musicians rock -- buy this and bang your head!
Heavy Metal at its Best!.......2006-09-26
I listened to Saxon back in the 80's. Still have a few of thier LPs in the closet. WOW! These guys can still play - WELL. The opening song Motorcycle Man (which I was unfamiliar with) will kick you in the
b@!!$. Biff Byford hasn't lost one bit of his voice. All I can say is that I'm very impressed, and the production is top notch. If you're a fan of this band, or heavy metal in general - YOU WILL ENJOY THIS. And the book-like case it comes in is interesting.
One of the best live metal DVDs.......2006-03-11
This is the first time I've seen Saxon live on a DVD.
I have seen many other metal/hard rock bands live in concerts, and also on DVD.
Saxon seem to have gotten better, as they have gotten older.
Byff can not hit the high notes he once used to, but he delivers a convincing performance.
The band sounds very tight, and the dual guitar work is excellent.
The drum solo is one of the highlights of the concert.
The two best tracks in my opinion are Solid Balls of Rock, and Wheels of Steel.
I wish the crowd was a little more warmed up, though.
I liked the interview with Byff as well.
If you like Heavy Metal this is a DVD worth spending the money for.
Superb.......2004-11-03
SAXon deserved a DVD of this quality a long time ago. The sound is perfect, the band performance is amazing. I only wonder if they left some songs of that show (Wacken 2001) behind...because it's a short set for today's standards of DVDs, only 97 minutes. Once in Brasilia (capital of Brazil), in 2002, they played 2 hours and twenty minutes to an audience of only four hundred people.... And they played with gusto, emotion and energy, the same as you see in this DVD.. So I think they played more songs than that on that night...
The band is in top form here. Doug Scarratt is a master guitarist, Nibbs Carter is a powerful, dynamic and over the top bass player, German drummer Fritz Randow is an atomic bomb.. Paul Quinn and Biff needs no introduction... They're perfect and cool as ever...
The extras are quite good also, although one of the promo videos made me cry, watching the "butchering" of the classic "SUZIE HOLD ON", changed into pop metal of the worst kind... (well, this was in their "hair metal days" of the middle eighties...). Also, the interviews are good, and only leaves you wanting more, the same going for the three songs performed live at Sweden in 1995 (still with Nigel Glockler on drums).
This is the best live footage you can get from Saxon until now.
