After enjoying in this DVD the extraordinary coordination between The Vienna Pilharmonic, and the heart that Kleber puts in it, I gave 5 stars.
From children to music critics it is whortwhile.

5 out of 5 stars New Year Concert 1989, Vienna.......2007-02-05

This was the first Laser Disc. I purched in 1990. The DVD was much better than the Laser Disc. Since I do not have to turn the DVD the music is much more cohesive than the Laser Disc., Carlos Klieber was young then. He seemed more energetic than his later years. Recommend the DVD without any reservation for anyone who loves Klieber's style of conducting.

Here are wonderful performances of typical Vienna New Year's fare, led with great joy by Carlos Kleiber. I find his performances here to be fresher than the 1992 New Years DVD. Picture quality and sound are beyond reproach.
