What copy of this do the 4 & 5 star reviewers have?.......2006-04-22
I could throw this DVD away amd forget I ever owned it. It is the worst sounding, unsightly DVD concert(?) I have ever experienced---period!
One word: Sad.......2005-08-22
As a huge Foreigner fan, I eagerly awaited this DVD. Then I watched it. My God, this is the worst concert DVD I've ever seen, with the following problems: there is WAY too much slow motion camera work or crappy MTV type camera work, there is no Dennis Elliott on drums, Gramm seems to be singing out of time on purpose, too many shots of women in the crowd and not enough time on the band and their playing skills (we men and women musicians like and want to learn their music too), the stage/set is downright laughable, and the list could go on forever. How Foreigner could allow this DVD to be released is beyond me.
Compared to the awesome brilliance of Fleetwood Mac's `The Dance' , Led Zeppelin's new 2 disc set' Led Zeppelin', Gary Moore's `Live at Montreux', Third Day's `Live', Buddy Rich's Jazz Legend: 1917-1987, Mary Chapin Carpenter's `Live at Wolf Trap' (go Robbie Magrudder!!), etc., this DVD is just abysmal. Fellow Foreigner fans, can you please point me to a better DVD with Dennis Elliot at the drum kit?
For the record, I'm a huge fan of the original band line up and original albums, so this was a very excruciating experience indeed. Fellow Foreigner fans be warned: STAY AWAY!!
Here's a little bit of trivia for fellow drummers: Dennis Elliott is now a world renowned woodworking artist whose art has won innumerable awards and he has had as many museum exhibitions. The man is a true artist, and I miss his splendid drumming for Foreigner incredibly.
Are they really playing?.......2005-04-03
When a dvd never shows the guitar player actually playing his guitar, you have to wonder if he is actually playing it or not. Why show the guitar players head or the audience throughout his solos? I did not see one instance during this dvd that showed his fingers playing the guitar. Everytime the camera angle would either switch off the guitar player or just show him from his shoulders up. Kinda makes me wonder if Mick Jones can play guitar at all. I thought about getting the other Foreigner dvd but it may not be any better.
Hamming it up.......2005-03-26
I have just completed listening to this less than enjoyable reprise. I still do not understand how a band can think that we the consumers wish to hear very bad renditions of their songs played off beat and with little regard to the hits that they originally were. Seems to me that they think that intentionally being off beat is something that we want to hear. These are some of my favorite songs and I will never listen to this butchery again. I am sorry. I love this band, but I wish I had not bought this.
Great Concert DVD of Foreigner.......2004-10-06
Foreigner live at Deer Creek was recorded in Noblesville,Indiana by Indianapolis on July 19,1993 at the Deer Creek ampitheatre, now the Verizon Wirelss Center. This concert was during the Very Best and Beyond tour,so Rick Willis and Dennis Elliot had already left the band.Original members lead guitarist Mick Jones and Lead Vocalist Lou Gramm lead a great lineup of talented musicians through 12 of Foreigners biggest hits. The band is great, the sound quality is great especially without surround sound, there are sequences of black and white once in awhile, but it doesn't take away for the enjoyment of the show. Songs include Long,Long Way from Home,Blue Morning Blue Day,Dirty White Boy,Urgent,Jukebox Hero and more.A great concert DVD for any Foreigner fan.
