Description

Sarah Brightman, Tom Jones, Jewel, Bryan Adams, Charlotte Church and many other stars lead a stellar lineup for the ultimate Christmas concert. Filmed at the Papal seat of the Roman Catholic Church, this program brings the esteemed Natale in Vaticano (Christmas at the Vatican) concert tradition to audiences outside Italy for the first time since the annual Christmas Eve broadcast began in 1992.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars NOT a Christmas must-have.......2006-01-07

This DVD is the same as "All-Star Christmas" -- also available on Amazon -- although I bought mine from an eBay seller named LookAtMusic whose shipping method took a month. (The moral: Amazon's shipping methods are faster and more reliable.) And when I finally got the DVD, I was so disappointed by the content.

Irritating faults by the performers: some sang off-key, some didn't seem to know the lyrics (they'd either mumble or use lines from another stanza of the carol), some tried to do a unique singing style that just simply ruined the song, and some had laryngitis that made their singing inaudible.

Irritating faults by the technical people behind the concert or the DVD: the sound system in the auditorium was poor, the DVD was amateurishly edited, didn't have English subtitles for non-English lyrics, and didn't have even any credits (which would have been useful so I could name the people who put this crap together).

I give this DVD 2 stars because it had a redeeming value: performances by Sarah Brightman, Jewel, Scoggins, Bryan Adams and a couple of Gospel choirs. The others, even Charlotte Church were blah!

Better to buy Church's "Dream a Dream" DVD, with her having a concert in the Holy land.

2 out of 5 stars A Musical Christmas From the Vatican .......2004-12-10

The best performance on this dvd is Jewels Christmas version of "hands", the other songs are all pretty good but the camera angles and overall filming of the event is of poor quality. If you are buying this dvd for Jewels song you'd probably be better off getting her own Live dvd filmed at Humphreys at the bay.
