Description
Comic wizard Bill Murray (CRADLE WILL ROCK, THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS) teams up with Academy Award(R)-winner Richard Dreyfuss teams up with (Best Actor, 1978, THE GOODBYE GIRL) in an outrageously wild comedy that's sure to drive you off the deep end! Murray plays Bob Wiley, a troubled but lovable therapy patient who fears everything! After seeking help from noted psychiatrist Dr. Leo Marvin (Dreyfuss), Bob feels revived. But when the good doctor skips town to go on a quiet family vacation, Bob, afraid of being alone, follows -- showing up unexpectedly at the therapist's lakeside retreat. That's when the fun really begins! Bob innocently becomes the houseguest who just won't leave -- endearing himself to the other family members ... and, in the end, driving the stressed-out shrink absolutely crazy!
Customer Reviews:
...as comical today as when it was released.......2007-09-01
Bob has enough irrational and unreasonable phobias to give Sigmund Freud a headache. Bob, the main character in the film "What About Bob?," is portrayed by the hilarious Bill Murray.
Bob shows many signs of an inferiority complex. He is an unhealthy individual who is unable to cope with many realities of life. Instead of coping with inferiority constructively, Bob copes using avoidance and fear, which stops all real progress.
As depressing as it sounds, Bob is hysterical! Bill Murray's acting is topnotch. This is a must-see for anyone. All of the knee-slapping comes from Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss. Dreyfuss plays the role of Bob's increasingly angry and irritated therapist.
Before he even gets dressed for the day, Bob repeats to himself, "I feel good, I feel great, I feel wonderful." Bob lives all by himself, accompanied only by his goldfish. He is a mess. Bob tends to lose almost all mobility. He becomes stiff as a board and uses tissues to avoid contact with door handles and other things commonly used by people. While walking down the street, he continuously tells himself, "I feel good, I feel great, I feel wonderful."
Bob decides one day to see a shrink. He eventually finds himself face to face with the doctor. He says that he worries about diseases and, while in public, gets, "...dizzy spells, nausea, cold sweats, hot sweats, fever blisters, difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing, blurred vision, involuntary trembling, dead hands, numb lips, fingernail sensitivity, pelvic discomfort." When asked what it is that he is really afraid of, Bob replies, "What if I'm looking for a bathroom? I can't find it and...my bladder explodes." After listening to some of the doctor's comments, Bob expresses an intense need for the doctor and belief that he can help him.
Bob's multi-phobic personality drives his therapist mad once Bob starts clinging to him. His condition worsens when his therapist leaves for vacation and he is left alone. Bob becomes desperate and tracks his therapist down at his vacation home. There, his therapist's family becomes attached to him while his therapist becomes increasingly annoyed.
Aside from a little profanity, this PG-rated film is very family-friendly. It remains one of the funniest movies of all time without the use of violence or nudity. It is as refreshingly comical today as it was when released in 1991.
One of the Funniest movies I have ever seen.......2007-07-14
This movie is a classic. A psych. patient, played by Bill Murray,
follows his psychiatrist on his summer vacation. I could see this
movie over and over again and I'm still laughing every time that
I see it.
What About Bob.......2007-07-08
This is a movie you can enjoy everytime you view it. A great pick me up on the blue days.
Bill Murray's funniest movie.......2007-05-15
As good as Ground Hog Day but even funnier because it looks as if Murray and Dreyfus were typecast. Perfect movie for Murray and Dreyfus
Just Plain Silly!.......2007-05-13
Someone had recently spoke about this movie, and when I fell asleep one night, I was awakened by someone's voice yelling, "Bob! Bob! Cock-a-doodle-doo!" Needless to say, after realizing this was the same movie I had just heard about, I had to see it for myself in its entirety. You will not be disappointed!

Salma Hayek makes up for many bad movies with her fierce performance in this sumptuous film. Hayek plays the Mexican surrealist painter Frida Kahlo, whose tempestuous life with her unfaithful husband, muralist Diego Rivera (Alfred Molina), drives the story of Frida. Maverick director Julie Taymor (Titus, the Broadway stage production of The Lion King) pulls out a wealth of gorgeous visuals to capture everything from the horrific bus accident that damaged Kahlo's spine to her and Rivera's trip to New York City, where Rivera's political leanings ruptured a commission from the Rockefeller family. Though the script spends too much time telling us how great Frida's painting is (rather than trusting in the power of the images themselves), Taymor's dynamic energy and Kahlo's forceful personality give Frida genuine emotional impact. The superb cast includes Roger Rees, Valeria Golino, Ashley Judd, Geoffrey Rush, Antonio Banderas, and Edward Norton. --Bret Fetzer
Description
Nominated for six 2002 Academy Awards(R), including Salma Hayek for Best Actress, FRIDA is the triumphant motion picture about an exceptional woman who lived an unforgettable life! And from her enduring relationship with her mentor and husband, Diego Rivera (Alfred Molina -- CHOCOLAT), to her scandalous affairs, Frida's uncompromising personality would inspire her greatest creations! Also starring Antonio Banderas (SPY KIDS), Ashley Judd (KISS THE GIRLS), Edward Norton (RED DRAGON), and Geoffrey Rush (QUILLS).

This movie was great all the way around-the scenery-the actors-the story line!
I really enjoyed it. Plus I learned about an artist I probably never would have....what a woman she was.....
Outstanding.......2007-08-26
Is this an accurate depiction of Frida's life? I have no idea, and I don't care. This movie is an intelligent, interesting, and beautiful piece of art in its own right.

Alicia Silverstone won everyone over with her portrayal of a Beverly Hills teen, Cher, whose penchant for helping others with their relationships and self-esteem is a cover for her own loneliness. Director Amy Heckerling (Fast Times at Ridgemont High) made a smart, funny variation on Jane Austen's novel Emma, sweetly romantic and gently satirical of 90210 social manners. The cast is unbeatable: Dan Hedaya as Cher's rock-solid dad, Wallace Shawn as a geeky teacher, Paul Rudd as the boy who has always been Cher's surrogate brother--and the true holder of her most secret wishes. --Tom Keogh
Customer Reviews:
I love this movie.......2007-07-09
Everybody teases me about it, but i just love these girls and how they take up on life... I've seen it like a thousand times!!!!
Soon to be classic.......2007-06-27
This is one of those movies that "Everyone" has seen. It's a modern adaptation of Emma and is so modernly well done down to the dialogue, slang, clothing, and teen issues. It transformed very well into a modern story and is a must-see chick flick. Humerous and surprisingly smart. Alicia Silverstone pulls off Emma's character wonderfully!
Very Good Rom-com!!!!.......2007-04-29
Clueless Is REALLY GOOD!!! Some Parts of It are REALLY funny!!!!! Brittany Murphy is Very good in it ,And Alicia Silverstone is Amazing in it ! She Fits right In To the role of a Cher !But i Part of it i dont get is that She falls in Love with her former Stepbrother!! If you are ever looking for a Romantic teen Comedy that's Good Clueless Is the one!!!!
Timeless.......2007-04-11
As long as there are clics, young men and women trying to find their place in this world, this movie will remain timeless.
CLASSIC TEEN COMEDY DOES FOR THE 90'S WHAT FAST TIMES DID FOR THE 80'S.......2007-04-07

One of the best romantic comedies of the 1990s, My Best Friend's Wedding not only gave Julia Roberts a delightful vehicle for her crowd-pleasing comeback, but it further distinguished itself by avoiding the conventional plotting of the genre. Julia plays a prominent Chicago restaurant critic whose best friend (Dermot Mulroney) is a former lover from her college days with whom she'd made a binding pact: if neither of them were married by the age of 28, they'd marry each other. Just when they're about to reach the deadline of their agreement, Mulroney arrives in Chicago to introduce Roberts to his seemingly perfect fiancée (Cameron Diaz) and announce their wedding in just three days. That leaves the shocked Julia with just three short days to sabotage the wedding and marry the man she now realizes she's loved all along. With potential heartbreak waiting in the wings, she'll either get what she wants or pay the price for her selfish behavior, and Ronald Bass's cleverly constructed screenplay keeps us guessing to the very end. Rupert Everett scored rave reviews for his scene-stealing performance as Robert's gay friend who goes along with her scheming (but only so far), and even as she makes her character's needy desperation disarmingly appealing, Roberts wisely allows Diaz to capitalize on her charming time in the spotlight. As the romantic outcome remains uncertain, the viewer is held in a state of giddy suspense, and director P.J. Hogan pulls off some hilarious scenes (like a restaurant full of people singing the Dionne Warwick hit "I Say a Little Prayer") that could easily have fallen flat in the hands of a less talented filmmaker. It's no surprise that this was one of the box-office smashes of 1997. --Jeff Shannon

Her best friend is getting married.......2007-08-11
and she has the wedding ring stuck on her finger. Never saw this movie before. julia Roberts
Entertaining.......2007-08-09
I enjoyed this deliteful romantic comedy.I am not much of a Julia Roberts fan But I enjoyed her in this movie.
A Great Movie!.......2007-07-21
I hold this movie close to my heart, why you may ask? Because I was going thru the same thing Julia Roberts was going thru in this movie. I was in love with someone who did not belong to me. It was a hot affair 10 years ago that ended disastrously, and I ended up the loser at the end. The lesson here is, Life Goes ON. Julia's performance was so true and honest, she always steals my heart. Great movie!
My Best Friend's Wedding.......2007-05-08
Thanks for getting this DVD to me while I am stationed over seas.
I give it a B..........2007-04-15
I was very glad this movie didn't end up being a silly romance and break the couple up just to rekindle an old relationship! A good watch for a dull Saturday afternoon.

Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler, and Diane Keaton prove that revenge is a dish best served cold. Former college buddies, they reunite at the funeral of a dear friend who took a swan dive onto Fifth Avenue. All three discover they share the same unhappy history of husbands who dove into middle-age by dumping them for trophy wives. Forming a warring triumvirate, they decide to get even, and along the way remind themselves of long-forgotten capabilities. The action gets a little too "wacky" at times, but the gals are great. Portraying an aging actress, Hawn is sometimes a little too flamboyant, but there is much fun to be had in her flashiness, especially when she pokes fun at Tinseltown and her persona. Instead of her usual brashness, Midler stretches herself and shows us a woman who is not just unhappy, but also deeply sorrowful. Not that she isn't quick with a wisecrack, but her expressive face alone tells the story of her marriage. As the repressed and guilt-ridden spouse of a self- involved ad executive, Keaton finds her anger, and her voice, when her psychiatrist (Marcia Gay Harden) oversteps ethical boundaries. Watching Keaton grow from an ineffectual homemaker into a powerful businessperson reminds us that it has been far too long since she has done a comedy. Director Hugh Wilson smartly chose supporting players who each brought something unique to the film. However, he does not maintain the first hour's effervescent humor throughout the film, as the ending is weakened by a softening of the wives' resolve. --Rochelle O'Gorman
Customer Reviews:
FUNNY AND SO TRUE.......2007-05-14
WONDERFUL MOVIE. THE CAST IS JUST GREAT. IT IS TOUCHING AND FUNNY. THERE ARE SOME SAD THINGS AS WELL. OVER ALL GREAT.
Pleased.......2007-05-14
I received my dvd in about a week and it came in brand new condition.
Great Movie, good service.......2007-04-09
Overall this is a fun movie, would not recommend it to the newly divorced, unless the divorce was your idea. However, there is a lot of hope embedded in the movie as well as female empowerment. Not crazy about the revenge attitude, however, love the line by Ivana Trump, success is the best revenge. Not a good movie for Stockard Channing fans, she only has a very small part at the beginning of the movie and is basically just a catalist to get the three main characters together. Good movie, fun and enjoyable, but again not for the newly divorced.
crowd pleaser.......2007-03-08
This is just a good movies about divorcees and life.. and the little lessons on revenge.

Grand opera at its grandest.......2007-09-15
The first thing that impresses the viewer are the stupendous sets. It is as though the designer, Giani Quaranta, has thrown down a gauntlet to the performers - "Match this!". He clearly conveys the impression of a great civilization that seems to be on the wane. The giant friezes (if that is the correct term) are hugely impressive, but they are beginning to crumble. The frescoes in Amneris' room are lovely, but the paint is coming off. I was also impressed by the King's costumes. I checked up and the headresses, including the double crown as well as the regalia - the crook and the flail - are absolutely correct. I only wonder why Pharoah did not have his false beard? Would it have made singing harder?
I confess to a certain fascination with Amneris, and Dolora Zajick gets better and better in this role as the opera goes on. In the end you have the feeling that old Ramfis is going to have a rough ride when she becomes queen.
I have seen too many Aidas where you wonder WHY Radames prefers her to Amneris. Here, thanks to Ms. Millo's exquisite looks (it is a pity she is not black in real life, it suits her) and marvellous singing (particularly the pianissimos) the plot seems half way reasonable.
The only negative, and I say this with sadness because I admire him, is the performance of Sherrill Milnes. He is no longer in good voice and his acting is not upto par. He comes across as far too old for a warrior king and he is very stiff in certain parts.
Domingo is Domingo - looks, voice and acting are all perfect.
I have one quibble with the video and that is the superimposition of Amneris on Aida and Radames in the finale. It would have been better to present the double stage from a distance. Also, Amneris' final "pace" is swallowed up by applause, which is a pity. I would have expected better of the Met's audience.
Fantabuous! Bravo!.......2006-08-06
Lavish production--sets, costumes, voices, orchestra, and dancing.
Placido did not discourage. Aida has a beautiful voice, but I guess beautiful voices along with beautiful faces and carriage befitting a princess are nonexistent in the opera world? (Watching too many Hollywood flicks?) For a romantic Aida's countenance was the wee disappointment. I think that even a different hairdo could have helped.
Otherwise, fabulous production.
Outstanding performance.......2006-08-05
I'm impressed. This is an outstanding performance, at a good tempo, with good sound quality, and great artists.
Ancient Egyptian razzmatazz and some great singing.......2005-10-13
Of all the 'Aida' productions I've witnessed, this version is my favorite. If you are searching for your first 'Aida' it should be this Metropolitan Opera production with its balance of great and good singers, and its grandiose Egyptian backdrops of sandstone, bronze, linen and gold. It has one of the better triumphal marches, too. No elephants (except for a few tusks), but scads of soldiers, dancers, Ethiopian prisoners, leopard skins, and gaily caparisoned horses.
Aprile Millo's Aida sings well, especially her celestial pianissimos, but she is a cold princess-slave. She seems to be perpetually annoyed--perhaps because Amneris got the best costumes---but her tomb scene with Placido Domingo is to die for. It is only when she has to crank up the volume that she sounds a bit pinched.
Dolora Zajick's Amneris is why you need to hear this production. She is a luscious, spoiled, intensely feminine, young Pharaoh's daughter. She is also a true Verdian mezzo with a voice as rich and seductive as her appearance. This is one of those 'Aidas' where the Pharaoh's daughter almost steals the show.
Paata Burchuladze sings a Slavic, wa-wa trombone of a Ramfis, lisping, loud, and satisfactorily menacing at the fore of his priestly chorus. I really enjoyed the stentorian booming of the priests, thundering away at the lower levels of 'Ritorna Vincitor,' demanding the deaths of the Ethiopian prisoners, and snarling out their 'tradditores' beneath Amneris's frenzied pleading in the judgement scene.
Placidio Domingo is a soldierly Radamès and his 'Celeste Aida' is sung with a silken vigor that doesn't require the interpolated, often-bleated high B flat at its climax. His nobility does make it difficult to believe his sudden decision to desert his soldiers and run away with Aida in the Nile scene, but make no mistake, this is a great tenor in his prime. If you don't shed a tear during 'O Terra Addio' maybe you should be listening to something other than opera.
Greek bass, Dimitri Kavrakos is a suitably dignified pharaoh with slightly less wa-wa than his priestly colleague, but with enough volume to be heard in the crowd scenes.
Sherrill Milnes is a ferocious, glowering Amonasro, although his baritone has definitely begun to show signs of dryness. His scene with Aida is dramatic rather than beautifully sung.
There is one fairly serious problem with this production--I've played it on two different machines, so it isn't my equipment: I can barely hear the male chorus at the beginning of the Temple of Vulcan scene. The priestess and the women's chorus come through fine, but no matter how much I crank the volume, the men's unaccompanied chorus is nothing but a distant muttering.
Even so, I think you'll love this 'Aida', right down to the last 'pace' of Amneris, quietly grieving above the tomb.
Electrifying.......2005-09-25
As others have said, the production and performances are top-notch. Aprile Millo is fantastic, along with Domingo, of course. The crowd goes increasingly wild as the performance progresses. Truly electrifying.

Get shot in the head and become a better person. This 1991 Mike Nichols (Wolf) film stars Harrison Ford as a big-shot cold-hearted lawyer who gets a bullet in his brain during a holdup. The film de-emphasizes the traumas of recovery to focus on the title character's personality change after the fact. The canny Ford gets to work from his full, familiar palette of arrogance to boyishness, and even builds Henry from top to bottom after the wounded fellow awakens with no memory. But this is a slow and unremarkable film from Nichols, its sentimentality eclipsing all else, most of all profound insight. --Tom Keogh
Customer Reviews:
Ford is so versitile!.......2007-09-04
I have loved this movie ever since I saw it when I was in College in the early nineties. I used to be embarrased to tell my friends that it was one of the best (dramatic) movies that I had ever seen, but it has remained that way for years. I always fall back on this movie. It never ceases to put a smile on my face and realize that we aren't stuck in the lives that we created for ourselves during our earlier days. It gives you hope for change and delight for what is to come for the future. Henry and his family have a TON of money and wealth that you could only imagine, but they give it all up; the partnership at the firm and the million dollar apartment in Manhattan for one of the most beatiful things you can imagine; LOVE and FAMILY.
I don't know how the other reviewers feel about this movie, but when Henry returns back to the apartment, towards the end of the movie and he returns to his wife, I always have to fight back the tears. (Because I am a tough guy, huh??) The movie is filled with many awesome moments...one of my favorites is when he is taught to read again with his daughter. A celebration ensues in the kitchen with Henry hugging everyone in sight, including the maid.
There are also a lot of painful moments that make you grateful for the people that will always stick by you during tough times; one of which was the moment when Henry and his wife are at a party and one of their (so-called) friends calls Henry an "idiot" while they were talking behind their back. I just wanted to jump through the screen and strangle them!!!
What a great movie! One of the best works from Harrison Ford during his long and illustrious career!
I lived this...sorta...........2007-07-11
In February 2007, my eldest daughter (age 35) was struck by a car that ran a red light. She sustained massive head trauma and brain damage. In working my way through this tragedy it just happened that ABC aired the piece by Bob Woodruff on the subject AND, somehow, I remembered this film.
When I originally saw the film I viewed it as a pleasant enough experience but pretty much passed it off. It came out during the period when Dustin Hoffman did Rainman and DeNiro did Awakenings. So it seemed like a "me to" film of that ilk. I didn't think it was as good as either of those films at the time, and still don't. But I think that would be more about the writing than the acting. All parties on the acting front put out good work here.
BUT coming back to this film after the brain injury of my daughter, I did view it through different eyes and it was, somehow, helpful to me at that time. The doctors said she would undergo a "personality shift" which we were all fearful of. This film helped take the sting out of that prediction by telling us that may not be all bad.
So I'll keep this film and remember both what I thought of it then and what I thought of it 16 years later. Recommended.
Harrison and Annette..........2007-06-16
...shine in this movie! If you don't love it, there is something wrong with you! Highly recommended!
EXCELLENT LITTLE KNOWN FILM ONE OF FORDS BEST!.......2007-04-08
This a really good film that has not received it's due. Ford plays a very successful work-aholic lawyer that gets dealt a pretty bad hand.....at least so it would seem at first. This is not to be missed!
Very good message.......2007-03-14
A realistic and heart warming story of a couple and their daughter who go through a difficult trial. Coming out knowing the true value of love and life as it should be.

Inspired by the popular 1980s Nintendo game, The Legend of Zelda: The Complete Animated Series contains 13 enjoyable, self-deprecating adventures featuring haughty Princess Zelda and her frustrated, would-be suitor and courageous ally, Link. Guardians of the Triforce of Wisdom, a powerful object that sits, curiously unguarded, in Zelda's castle, the stuck-up princess and grousing Link are forever fending off assaults by the evil Ganon, a sort of underworld demon. Ganon wants the Triforce of Wisdom because he possesses a similar Triforce--together, the magical items would make him all-powerful. While there's a lot of sword-and-sorcery action, the tone of Legend of Zelda's short pieces is unmistakably comic, driven by a constant and unrelieved romantic tension between the two leads. Link is constantly saving Zelda's hide, ever-hopeful of a kiss, while Zelda keeps him on tenterhooks, leading him right to the brink of satisfaction and then
well, maybe next time. Among the best episodes is "The White Knight," in which Zelda's infatuation with a vain, preening demon-slayer sends an irritated Link packinguntil the interloper refuses to rescue Zelda because he might get his clothes dirty. Each episode features the original Mario Brothers introduction from the Super Mario Bros. Super Show. --Tom Keogh

"Well excuuuuse me Princess".......2007-08-02
I don't recall this cartoon from when I was a kid, but after getting the Super Mario Bros. Super Show, I couldn't pass this up. I enjoyed it even more than Mario. The dialogue is hilarious, and I love how Link is always trying to get Zelda to kiss him after he saves her. And Zelda has to help out Link quite a bit. There is plenty of fun and I was really blown away how good this show is. There is a lot of action also. The animation is nothing spectacular, but the artwork is good. I just wish there were more than 13 episodes.
Picture and sound quality are very good. Only special features to speak of are some live action segments from The Super Mario Bros. Super Show.
What you've been wondering..........2007-07-17
If you haven't bought this yet its either because you don't if you wan't to spend money on it or if it's any good. I'll start off by saying it is one of the cheesiest shows every made but you can't help but like it. The plots for every episode seem so obvious yet is great to watch how characters from the games are in the show. If you have thought about buying it's worth it. Now on to the the price. What you get is every episode ever made. A slew of extra features you wouldnt excpect such as storyboards, drawings, and interactive games. The set is included on a three disc set with great artwork on the case. The DVD's fold out left and right. The packiging is great. It is definately worth the price, considering it would have sold just as well with no extras at all. Overall the product is very complete and a must buy for anyone wondering about it.
Old school Link.......2007-05-24
If you watched the Super Mario Bros. Super Show when you were a kid like me then you remember the Fridays of the show the best. Or at least I do. On each Friday the show would air a 30 min cartoon of "The Legend of Zelda." This set of DVD's is the complete series of 30 min segments from the Super Mario show. They even include the original theme song that was shown before every episode was well as the cheesy "Do the Mario" credits portion. So if you like Link and you used to watch the show you will love this collection. Even you never watched it but are a big Zelda buff, this is one product you can't pass up.
great cartoon.......2007-05-18
this was a great series the only problem was the repeditive line link uses
Angry Sonic Fan .......2007-05-11
As for fellows Deaf people like myself; if you are interested in buying this DVD. Don't! I will tell you why.
I am deaf and I was fan of the Sonic the Hedgehog for as long I can remember, I have always loved Sonic the hedgehog Comics and TV shows. Let me tell you one thing; I hated the Shout! Factory company. They are the ones that made Mario Bros Super Show, Legend of Zelda Compete DVD. I bought Zelda Complete and Mario Bros Super Show (Made by Shout Factory) Don't be fooled! The fact Amazon says it does have Closed Captioning; It does NOT! I repeat; IT DOES NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess you can call me an Angry Sonic Fan who can't even buy Sonic DVD!! Since the DVD was made by Shout! They never even bother to put any Closed Caption or even Subtitles. I wanted one with Subtitles it would have been cool. What's is up with the Shout company? They are so old-fashioned!!! About 90% of DVD already have Closed Captioned and even Subtitles! Why not this one? What the.....???? I have own many of Animes/Cartoon DVD! All of them have Subtitle or Closed Captioned! As Much I love Zelda, Sonic, Mario, or even Captain NES Master Video Game DVD since they are made by Shout; I can't even buy them or enjoy them at all. I have went to the store and checked to see if they have CC of course, as you can guess; they don't. As you can see, what's the point of buying the DVD made by Shout; if you can't understand anything? I mean COME-ON! For as long I can remember When I was kid, I remember always get up early in the morning while I was waiting for the School Bus to arrive; I'd watch the Sonic the Hedgehog Satam or AOSTH Or even Mario Cartoons. It DOES have Closed Captioning on the TV! I remember I copied some of the shows off the TV. Amazon said It has Closed Captioning for Zelda compete and Mario bros Super Show but, that was a lie! Because, it does not have one!!!!!!! How do I know??? Because, I just know! When I bought Zelda Compete and Mario Super Show DVD; oh yeah, you can bet I was angry. I am an Sonic's fan who can't even enjoy this or any of DVD made by Shout. I hope in the future they will learn to fix that mistake.

Although it received mixed reactions from critics and audiences alike when released in 1998, this supernatural thriller benefits from a sustained atmosphere of anticipation and dread, and its combination of detective mystery and demonic mischief is handled with ample style and intelligence. Under the direction of Gregory Hoblit (who fared better with Primal Fear), Denzel Washington plays detective John Hobbes, who witnesses the gas-chamber execution of a serial killer (Elias Koteas). But when another series of murders begins, Hobbes suspects that the killer's evil spirit has survived and is possessing the bodies of others to do its evil bidding. Even Hobbes's trusted partner (John Goodman) thinks the detective is losing his grip on reality, but the dire warnings of a noted linguist (Embeth Davidtz) confirm Hobbes's far-out theory, and his case intensifies toward a fateful showdown. Although its idea is better than its execution, and the story's film noir ambitions are never fully accomplished, this slickly directed thriller has some genuinely effective moments in which evil forces are entwined into the fabric of everyday reality. Among the highlights is a memorable scene in which Detective Hobbes must track the killer as the evil spirit is transferred between many people via physical contact. Even if the film is ultimately less than the sum of its parts, it's an intriguing hybrid that resides in the same cinematic neighborhood as Seven and The Silence of the Lambs with a cast that also includes Donald Sutherland and James Gandolfini. Included on the DVD is a full-length audio commentary by director Hoblit, screenwriter Nicholas Kazan, and producer Charles Roven. --Jeff Shannon

Fallen In Love.......2007-04-21
I've seen this movie about, oh my, dont remember the last time I seen this movie, but last week I bought. Why? Well, I remember how much I'm a big Denzel fan and how much I was so intrigue by this movie. So I thought, well, I'm going to buy it. I watched it last night. It was like Dejavu (spooky music - ok lame joke) because I remember like it was yesterday. This movie is almost a master piece. This movie has everything that a good thriller should want. When Denzel left the cop shop and was following that old lady and man, and from there was all spooked out. Brilliant! And when the Lady was running and the whole line was touching to get to the Lady . . . Wow??? Awesome Movie! It's not the best thriller, but its up there. I dont think alot of people give this movie a try, but they really should because I still think it was one of Denzel best (script) movies. His best acting, "see John Q" Rent this movie if you dont buy it. Give it a try!!
spooky.......2007-04-11
I love Denzel Washington, he is a great actor and brings character to every role he plays this movie is no exception. Cops with a spooky side stir the imagination................And, John Goodman really drives the word spooky home...............
This movie is awesome!.......2007-01-12
I love movies that start with a flash-back of the ending and then unwind the story. This is truly one of those movies that will have you smiling at the end because you never saw the twist coming. A must watch Denzel Washington movie.

absolutely brilliant viewing on the edge of my seat from start to finish, the twist at the end left you wanting for more, absolute for denzil washington fans he never lets you down
(:D).......2006-05-25
I'm a big denzel fan and this is one of my favorites. It follows the life of a police man who is trying to drag down the spirit of a demon. I know it seems like a sort of odd themed film but it is absolutely amazing
