A first-class and candid look at what went into 'N Sync's "No Strings Attached" tour, Making the Tour begins at 'N Sync's manager's compound in Florida as the group plans to promote their 2000 CD, No Strings Attached. The members of 'N Sync are the creative and driving forces behind their own success, and they wanted to create this video to show their fans how they make a tour happen. Join their planning sessions, where they realize they have seven new songs to choreograph and rehearse, and begin to plan the staging, sets, lighting, and special effects.

This documentary shows bits of interviews with each band member, the various rehearsal spaces, their frustration over too much material to prepare, meetings with some of the behind-the-scenes professionals, the beginning of the bus tour, and their meet-and-greet with fans before the first show. Throughout the DVD you hear bits and pieces of 'N Sync's music. It is not until the tour finally starts that you get some full-length concert performances--"Bye Bye Bye" and "This I Promise You." Clever editing leads you to believe that these are from an appearance at the Tacoma Dome in Washington State, but it is the same footage used in the Live from Madison Square Garden video. (One telltale remark did slip through: "Hey, New York, is this close enough for you?") Also included are music videos for "Bye Bye Bye," "This I Promise You," and "It's Gonna Be Me" for a playing time of 80 minutes. --Larry Clark

Fans will get a sneak peek into the touring process with footage from rehearsals and band meetings discussing lights, wardrobe, staging, sets and other important aspects of this hugely successful show. As an added bonus, Making of the Tour will contain video clips for the smash hit singles "Bye Bye Bye," "It's Gonna Be Me," and "This I Promise You."

5 out of 5 stars Hilarious!.......2006-09-13

Oh, man, this movie is AWESOME! It's so cool how you get to see how the guys prepare themselves for a tour, and their antics throughout the film are just so amusing! Probably my most favorite antic of them all is when Chris (he's my favorite member, by the way) is hunched over in a chair, pretending to be in excruciating pain. He's like: "I think I pulled something! Ohhh, doctor!" What a ham. There is a little bit of profanity scattered here and there, but not much, and fortunately, none of the words are too strong for the human ear.

Best of all, you get to see some ultra-cool music videos at the very end!

5 out of 5 stars Great Look at *NSYNC on Tour!.......2003-01-24

*NSYNC - Making the Tour is a cool look into what it takes to put a to put a tour together, especially one on the scale and magnitude of *NSYNC's "No Strings Attached" tour. Viewers not only get to listen to the members of the group talking about what's going on, but they also get the points of view from their manager and others behind this huge group.

At the end, viewers are treated to live performances from the "No Strings Attached" tour.

If you want to learn more about what it takes to put a tour together (planning, rehearsing, and executing) as well as commentary from people who know *NSYNC best, watch this tape or DVD!

5 out of 5 stars A "Must-See" for 'N Sync fans and music fans alike.......2001-08-12

I have an admission to make. Yes, I am a huge fan of 'N Sync and yes, that is the main reason I bought this DVD. But I am also a fan of music and this 'business we call show' as well, so the content of the DVD itself was also of great interest. To see all the hard work that the guys put into 'making the tour' look so effortless on stage really is an eye opener. If you have a friend or family member who wants to get into this business because they think it looks glamourous, get them to watch this, 'cause it ain't. Seeing the boys being told off by their choreographer two days before the show opens for messing up their choreography is one of the least fun, but most real moments.

The behind the scenes moments with the guys are a lot of fun to watch, my personal fave being Justin making the comment during a meeting in which they were trying to decide the set list for the tour that he didn't think they should do Bye Bye Bye 'because nobody likes it'. The bonus music videos are also cool, but if you're like me you've already taped them off the TV!

The thing I liked least about this DVD was that I found it a little too 'MTV' in some places. While we still saw a heck of a lot, there were some of the more nitty gritty things about putting the tour that that were glossed over. But that is a personal thing on my behalf.

All in all, I loved this DVD. It was informative and funny and showed the guys as the EXTREMELY hard working and ambitious young men they are. It also shows how much 'N Sync care and think about their fans when they put a show together. They give their all, from designing the stage, to 16 hour days of nothing but dancing, to bring their fans the best show possible, and with this DVD, we have the proof.
