Remember where you were when..........2007-09-13
This is one of those events, whether musical or otherwise, that comes along once a generation. The result is that everyone remembers where they were when....
In my case, I was pottering around at home, blissfully unaware of anything, when my Dad phoned me and said "Turn on your TV - three guys are singing beautifully." I did, and the rest is history.
I'm a professional musician and can't pull out bits or say where people were better than others. Pavarotti was aureate and majestic, his great bulk filling the space, singing with his entire face....Jose Carreras wonderfully intense and sensitive, like the younger brother, keen to impress and seeking approval (later bravely to fight his own health battles)....and Domingo was mischievous and competitive.
Zubin Mehta held the whole event together brilliantly, part authoritative, part conspiratorial. In the magical setting of Caracalla, the whole was greater than the sum of its parts.
It was the best jam session ever, and if you haven't seen it, you've been deprived. If you have, you'll want it again.
a Classic Concert.......2007-09-10
the three tenors and they capture so much together on stage. I bought this on CD years ago and I use to play it for my sunday dinners and I enjoyed the performances and the Chemistry of there voices. the Late Great Pavarotti,Carreras and Domingo were all great. there voices touched all in the audiences. this is one of those performances where you if you are a fan of the power of a Voice as a main Instrument then this Concert is a must for you. a must have of a Classic Performance.
Please re-release this magnificent concert in High Definition!.......2007-08-07
The best opera performance ever! This needs to be re-released in high definition. It would be a showcase HD disc because the details of the orchestra on the wide Caracalla stage would show off the HD. I hope they shot this on film so we can get an excellent transfer but even if it was video, it will still exceed the standard DVD quality that we have now.
PERHAPS THE GREATEST CONCERT DVD EVER!!!.......2007-05-21
This DVD surpasses the very best concert videos you'll ever view. Recorded in Italy, the scintillating performances will sweep you away to past times and far-off places. Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti--what can I say but BRAVO!!! BRAVO!!! How fortunate are we afficionados to have three maestros of the art to view for years to come, long after they're gone---we'll still have them, immortalized on DVD. They perform at a level that seemingly even surprises themselves. A MUST for any lover of opera, arias or great concert videos. BRAVO!!!

Three Tenors.......2007-02-17
This DVD is superb. Luciano Pavarotti is at his best, and so are the other tenors. I have enjoyed watching it several times and never get tired of it. Wonderful to hear all the tenors at their best.
Customer Reviews:
Pure joy from start to finish!.......2007-09-17
I have several of Andre Rieu's DVDs and while most of them are enjoyable, this one is the best so far, in my opinion. Unlike one of your previous reviewers, I thought the Harlem Gospel Choir was great and suited a concert recorded in New York at Radio City Music Hall very well. I also like to see the audience and all the featured soloists so I enjoyed the way it was filmed. You almost feel that you are there! The repertoire was a 10 ... all among my favourite pieces and well chosen to capture many moods. Everything was played beautifully with contagious enthusiasm. This is definitely a keeper. You can't help but feel great after playing it.
Very Disappointing.......2007-09-10
I saw part of the PBS broadcast and I ordered this DVD even though I had to wait several weeks for it. I was very disappointed. I enjoy watching and lisenting to Andre and his orchestra, not watching them take a back seat to the performers, soloists, etc. They (the singers and choirs)are all very talented, but I wanted to see and experience Andre. I have several of his earlier DVD's that do not rely on outside talents, and I enjoy them so much more. Andre, go back to your roots!
Andre Rieu in New York 2006.......2007-09-10
I have almost everything Andre Rieu has and this was just passable. The Harlem folks are the ones that messed it up. Their music has no business being with Andre Rieu, who has class. I bought the DVD and am happy that I can just jump to the next track to avoid the Harlem music (if that is what you call music). Would I buy it again, well yes, but still with the opportunity to jump past some of the tracks. And Andre seemed to be "out of place here" and I think he was glad it was over. And there was only one song played by the little boy, disappointing.
Andre Rieu is always a good show!.......2007-08-13
I don't know how Clayton G. Anderson's panties got in such a twist! (The one star review!) I have to whole heartedly DISagree with his review! If you are an Andre Rieu fan, this DVD is another excellent showing by Mr. Rieu. What Clayton must not understand is how Andre loves not only beautiful music but also bringing it to the masses! To me the real show is seeing how much he enjoys bringing entertainment to his audiences!
I am an upbeat kind of person. I enjoy watching people have a good time. When you watch this DVD enjoy how much, not only the audience or Andre, but his orchestra enjoys the evening.
This is another beautiful show. I have all of them and enjoy them over and over again! (I really love Carla! LMAO)
Andre Rieu, The Music Man.......2007-08-11
Taped in July 2006 at the Radio City Music Hall, this exuberant concert starts with a grand entrance set to "76 Trombones." The glittering show is occasionally interspersed with wonderful scenes of New York in Summer, with its amazing diversity and energy, and the "Godfather Theme" includes some sunny footage from Italy. The superb musicianship of Rieu (who now plays a 1732 Stradivarius), along with his unique and terrific Johann Strauss Orchestra and Chorus, always keep a light heart and a touch of humor while they perform pop and classical favorites. Guest artists are the Harlem Gospel Choir and 5 year old child prodigy Akim Camara.
The old time razzle dazzle aura of the Radio City Music Hall is a perfect setting for Rieu, who has perfected the fine art of schmaltz down to the last note, and never fails to delight us with his entertaining offerings. The concert includes the following numbers:
"76 Trombones"
With Akim Camara: "Dance of the Fairies"
With the Harlem Gospel Choir: "Amen," "I Will Follow Him," "Nun's Choir," "Oh Happy Day," "When the Saints Go Marching In"
"The Life of the Artist"
"Blaze Away"
"My Way"
"Godfather Theme"
"Singing in the Rain"
"The Washington Post"
"Music of the Night"
"Don't Cry for Me Argentina"
"Hallelujah Chorus"
"Radetzki March"
"A Bright Young Man"
"America the Beautiful"

True Genius.......2007-09-17
I expect nothing but the best and I got it keep up the good work and continue to make great music.
Can't Wait to See The Next Series.......2007-09-17
It was the work I expected from R. Kelly. Myself and my husband enjoyed it greatly. It gave us laughs that we are still laughing at today. When you purchase this, it is best to rewatch all previous episodes and then 13-22. You will enjoy it much more that way.
I Am In Awe.......2007-09-11
This is the greatest thing to ever happen to me. It's highly contagious as well, so be prepared to sing your every action for the rest of the week.
trapped.......2007-09-08
it was good i cant wait for the others to come out well done R. Kelly
I hope it gets better, next time........2007-09-07
It was good, but this 12 to 22 chapters lost the music part of it. Before you would but able to play it on your cd player and really enjoy it. Now it looks like he made this just for dvd. It's not the same as the 1st 1 to 12 chapters and not better either. I'm only looking forward to seeing the next chapters in order to see if he went back to the old way.

Energy plus!!.......2007-09-06
I've always enjoyed Springsteen's music, especially live (he gives great concert), however...I had not heard of this DVD when I bought it. Prepare to be pleasantly surprised. A lot of traditional folk songs and some newer pieces done with more energy and original idea than I thought possible. The sessions band is as tight and talented a group as you're likely to hear.
You'll be smiling and dancing in front of your screen and the better your sound system, the better the result. Very well produced and outstanding audio quality. Don't miss this one!
Musical Genius.......2007-09-03
I've never enjoyed a conert DVD so much. Springsteen explores several genres with passion and style. Most especially, he drags long-dead-and-forgotten folk music into the 21st century. The Sessions band is absolutely the best gathering of wonderful musicians ever for a concert. And the whole experience is heightened by their obvious respect for each other, their music and the audience. The Springsteen/audience interactions are part of the fun of this DVD.
American music at its best.......2007-08-20
this is an intense fun concert interpreting great american roots music with plenty of enthusiasm, even though patti scialfi tries to hog too much air time, it does nothing to spoil the show. Greg Liszt was impressive with the banjo. Erie Canal is my favorite song.
Going Off.......2007-08-15
Having missed seeing Bruce in Verona last year because of an early flight out of Venice the next day and a lousy Italian train service - this DVD was a highlight.
The love of life and music was clearly evident in this wonderful gig in Dublin and the foot stomping soul of the band was evident in every track. If you don't buy another DVD all year, splash out, enjoy and play it loud. Bruce living life to the full!
Bruce, The Bandleader.......2007-08-13
I've been a longtime fan of Mr. Springsteen's music - I first saw him at a college gym in South Philly in Feb of 74. I had just gotten my driver's license and loved his first two albums, so me and my friends went to the show. I came away a lifelong convert. Little did I know I'd still be touting my devotion and exuberance to his music 33 years later... unimaginable.
I bought the studio version, The Seeger Sessions, so I felt this would be redundant, but it's anything but. This concert and collection epitomizes an incredibly talented committed artist, who's unafraid to take chances. It's the culmination of a year of touring and evolving with this smokin' band and this sizzling big sound. Some might say what's risky about singing old folk tunes, but just think about what a flop it could have been! Instead, we have an eyewitness view of an artist who can reinvent and passionately perform songs that have long been forgotten, in an incredibly exciting way. Watching Bruce lead this collection of musicians with arrangements from the heart is truly a joy to behold. It's obvious he's having a helluva lot of fun, and we get to go along for the ride! He mixes a number of his own songs in, also rewritten and presented in a new way, only reinforcing that Bruce is of the same cloth as Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, and other legends of American music. He continues to outdo himself with each album and this is no exception. I'm so glad I got my copy.
Thanks Bruce! You're the best!

Customer Reviews:
WOW!!!!.......2007-08-27
It's amazing how one concert can bring about a revival of such great music in America. If only the same impact can be made for Soccer in America.
The best of the "3 Tenors".......2007-08-08
This was the quintessential best performence of the several concerts by these 3 magnificient performers. It was flawless! Zubin Mehta & the Los Angeles Philharmic set in Dodger Stadium made it special too.
Simple DVD with stellar music.......2007-06-04
I can't agree with anyone more, the DVD is fantastic! I have the CD, and enjoyed the music. When I bought the DVD, it's like getting more than expected. More music, and you get to see the 3 awesome singers. I felt "gipped", because the finale ("Nessun Dorma" by all 3) wasn't on the CD, but that's no big deal. Anyway, the only complaint is with the programming of the DVD. On the package, it lists the chapters, but on the disk, the chapters are different. The package lists the final "world" medley as seperate chapters, but the medley is one. Also, there are no special features. But, altogether, I love the DVD.
Beauty Never Gets Old.......2006-12-10
I just bought this DVD after seeing the concert on TV 12 years ago. Seeing it again brings back all the wonderful feelings I had when I saw it the first time. The reviews I've read here are no exaggeration - this is a must see for everyone. I'm deeply moved by what beautiful things humans can create together when the conditions are right. I wish these guys wouldn't have to get old; the world needs more of the Three Tenors! (and, of course, Mehta and the beautiful orchestra and chorus)
T.T.T.T. =The Terrific Three Tenors!!.......2004-11-08
A truly wonderful performance. I wish I could of been there, but this is the closest I could get to it. The songs, the atmosphere, the orchestra....magnificant! I truly recommend this DVD. If you enjoy The Three Tenors, this is a must have. You can't go wrong with this one.

Standing in the Shadows of Motown is a must-see film for any fan of the Supremes, the Temptations, Marvin Gaye, or any other classic Motown stars. This swinging documentary celebrates the Funk Brothers--the team of studio musicians who powered dozens and dozens of hit Motown songs--by combining reminiscences, reenactments, and clips from a recent concert put on by the Funk Brothers, featuring singers like Chaka Khan, Ben Harper, and Joan Osborne on classic tunes like "What's Going On," "Ain't Too Proud to Beg," and "Heatwave." This crafty gang of elderly musicians will charm your pants off with a slew of entertaining anecdotes. Though it seems that there's a lot of dirt they're declining to dish, the movie deftly outlines the history of Motown, surely the most significant music label in American history--the label that turned segregated "race music" into chart-topping success. A soulful delight. --Bret Fetzer

Good Historical Information.......2007-07-14
It's about time that some of these artists finally get their recognition. It's not so much that they are such great performers, but their body of work is incredible
Funk.......2007-07-10
I'm not even a big fan of Motown records, but this film is something else. The Funk Brothers were the sessions players who played on a large percentage of the hits of the 60's and early 70's.
Sadly some of the key players died before this film was made but the remaining musicians get together and play. The contemparay film of them reformed playing motown classics is absolutely marvellous. It helps if you put the 5.1 sound on as well. The first performance brought me close to tears.
The documentary film is also interesting and the stories about the legendary bass player (who I had never heard of) James Jamerson and others are fascinating. I watched it three times in the first month of owning the DVD.
This is an essential music DVD for those interested in the history of Motown.
Do yourself a favor and get it.......2007-07-04
This might be the best 10 bucks you'll ever spend if you like Motown or heck if you like music. It leaves you wanting to know more and many of us who grew up with this music should know more. While some of their stories are heartbreaking it was a pleasure to see Pistol Allen smiling behind the drums even though he was so sick he would die shortly after the completion of the film. It was a sad moment too when two of the surviving brothers describe their last encounter with James Jamerson who would die the day after their visit. But there is fun too, fun for the Funk Brothers and fun for us as we are honored to hear these guys play and play they still can. The band is still very tight and very good. The vocalist do an admirable job of interpreting the hits. It would have been nice to have been graced with Marvin Gaye's and David Ruffin's presence but this is about the Funk Brothers and I for one am damn glad I got to see it.
Thanks to Dr. Lick's for putting this together.
Motown disappointment.......2007-06-27
I was looking forward to seeing the actual footage of the singers. I do appreciate the story of the fellows behind the artists but still, I think the video would have been more enjoyable had they included the actual singers.
FANTASTIC!.......2007-06-18
I rented this from Blockbuster, and immediately bought it. It's sooooo good and informative, I can't describe it. I loaned it to someone who stayed up until 2:00 a.m. to see the whole thing. There are absolutely great live performances from: the late Gerald Levert, (His "Shotgun" is outstanding) Me'shell Indegeocello (sp.)(who sexes up "You Really Got A Hold On Me"), Bootsy Collins, ("Cool Jerk"). Joan Osborne does a great ("What Becomes of the Broken Hearted") and Ben Harper all sing 2 songs. (The only performance I HATED was Ben Harper's "Heard it through the Grapevine"). Chaka Khan, Montell Jordan & Tom Scott also appear. The remaining "Funk Brothers" musicians who played behind the Motown groups, tell funny stories about each other, how they met, Berry Gordy and the label's performers. They even go to "Hitsville" where it all started. There are reinactments, and old photos. It's so good I've seen it at least six times. You will almost cry at the finale when they introduce everyone, even the musicians that have passed away. Their photos are on stage with the remaining members. There is a second disc of extras that I have yet to finish, but the movie itself is wonderful. I've watched it with Black and White people, young and old, and everyone loves it. Go get it. Now.

Does it get any better than this? Canadian torch singer and pianist Diana Krall is in perfect form in this two-hour Paris concert, recorded in December 2001 shortly after the release of her CD The Look of Love. In her band, guitarist Anthony Wilson and bassist John Clayton get the lion's share of attention, but the entire ensemble (including lush strings from the Paris Symphony Orchestra) provides flawless support for Krall, whose skill on a Steinway is as impressive as her smoky interpretations of vintage standards and ballads. Inspired by guest conductor-arranger Claus Ogerman, Krall can surprise with subtleties (like a delicious hint of the Beatles' "Day Tripper" in her closing of "All or Nothing"), or glide into solos with a master's flair. Matching the music beat for beat, the camera coverage and editing are intimate without being obtrusive, making this a bit of jazz heaven here on earth. --Jeff Shannon
Description
Recorded live at the Paris Olympia on December 1, 2001, Krall's classic style blends equal parts artistic vision, hard work and determination. The British Columbia native began playing piano at the age of four and now has five stunning albums behind her. She made her debut with the critically acclaimed Only Trust Your Heart and the album topped the Billboard jazz charts for the most of 1998, earning Krall a Grammy nomination. She went on to win a Best Jazz Vocal Performance Grammy for 1999's platinum-selling When I Look in Your Eyes and became the first jazz artist in 25 years to be nominated in the Album of the Year category.
Customer Reviews:
Beautiful Music To Hear, And To See - Great Concert!.......2007-09-08
The Canadian jazz singer and pianist gives about a two-hour concert in Paris and all two hours are very worthwhile to watch and hear. This is good stuff - and I'm not really a jazz fan. Krall is accompanied by five other jazz musicians and a European symphony orchestra, conducted by Alan Broadbent.
This is simply good music by real pros in the jazz business and led, of course, by Krall, who has a wonderful voice and is a terrific pianist. It doesn't hurt that she looks great, too! (Actually, the whole concert is filmed beautifully.) To Krall's credit, she lets her band get a lot of solo time and she's generous with the compliments. I found guitarist Anthony Wilson a particular standout. However, you can see Krall is partial to longtime musicians John Clayton (bass) and Jeff Hamilton (drums.) She speaks of them like old buddies, which they probably are.
The first selection is the most upbeat of the concert and gets things rolling. All of it is first- class and gets better and better with each viewing.
peggy lee of the 21st century.......2007-08-06
When you get Diana Krall, John Clayton and Jeff Hamilton playing the great standards, you could never never ask for more! She is the Peggy Lee of the 21st Century! With the Orchestre Symphonique Europeen backing her, this makes "Live in Paris "the very best of the best .
Now if only she doesn't get influenced with Elvis's style and sticks with the standards.......
Excellent.......2007-03-10
This DVD is a must for Krall fans. This is a timeless performance and shows her amazing gift, along with the outstanding pros alongside her.
Great DVD!.......2007-01-16
We bought this for my grandfather for Christmas since he's a big DK fan, but the whole family watched and loved it. She's such a talented artist and has an incredible voice!

band commentary.......2007-09-16
Would like to draw your attention to the band commentary which comes as a bonus feature with this disc.
I thought it was extremely informative and fun as Susanna, Vicky and Debbi talk about the concert as they and we watch it.
Especially appreciative is their heartfelt comments payed to newly departed bassist Michael Steele as we see her perform her song Between The Two.
The photo gallery included with the disc has a number of pics from the very earliest stages of the Bangles that I had not seen before and are tre cool!
And as for the concert itself filmed in 2000, it was as fresh as when I saw them a few weeks ago during the final stop on their 2007 tour at Foxwoods.
Thank God for The Bangles!
Bangles DVD a MUST for fans.......2007-09-15
If you are a fan of the Bangles you will love this DVD! It is a great tribute to the band b/c in addition to the concert footage (which features the original 4 members), the bonus interviews and photos become a nice tribute to a truly original, unique group of women. The girls still look great, sound great, and have finally produced a DVD that is a nice video scrapbook of their careers together. Pick up a copy!
Red Hot Bangles Live.......2007-09-11
Finally! A live concert DVD from The Bangles! Better yet, a concert at the House Of Blues in LA that I was actually at and it's just as great as I remembered it!! The show is from 2000, so it's before Michael left and we get the original line up. In addition to most of their classic album tracks and singles, we get a live version of their reunion song "Get The Girl" and preview of a half dozen or so from their reunion album (which would be released a couple of years after this show) that would be called "Doll Revolution". Great new songs like "Ride The Ride" mix seamlessly in with their standards and the girls look and sound great. In fact, I think they look BETTER here in the year 2000 than they did in their heyday. As a bonus, for me, I'm in about 40 or 50 different shots of the audience, smiling and bobbing my head in time to the hooks! Rock on, Bangles!!
The Bangles Are MUCH Better Live Than What's On This DVD!.......2007-09-03
I've been a fan since the eighties and after seeing The Bangles live at the Orange County Fair 3 years ago (where they were GREAT!!!), I was VERY dissapointed with the quality of the performance on this DVD. The sound quality is TERRIBLE... and they didn't even choose good performances from various shows. They just recorded one night's show (which was pretty bad) and put it out for sale. What a shame. I expected more from the Bangles. If you have never seen them live, don't think that this is how they sound today... it seems this was recorded when they were just getting back together after 11 years... AND IT SHOWS! They play MUCH better than this now, and I've wish they would care enough to put out a DVD worthy of their talent. I've got to say that I was VERY dissappointed!
Hey Bangles... You Should Be More Careful Of What You Sell To Your Fans! - YOU ARE BETTER THAN THIS!!!
Audio quality ruins a great concert.......2007-09-02
A fun concert with all the original members but i agree with other reviewer that audio quality is lacking. No bottom to it and very trebly.Best way around it is to use 2.0 rather than 5.1 and not to play it too loud. The show itself is great and the band has a lot of fun reworking old and new material. You could do worse than to spend 90 minutes watching susannah hoffs who is still one of the hottest females to ever pick up a guitar.Hope they put out another dvd soon with a new sound mixer.

What started as a suggestion for Paul Simon to play a concert in New York's Central Park blossomed, on September 19, 1981, as a full-blown Simon and Garfunkel reunion after an 11-year hiatus, and now proves a priceless snapshot of two of America's greatest folk-rock performers. (It's also the rightful bookend to Simon and Garfunkel's acoustic Live from New York City, 1967.)
Performed with a who's-who of East Coast session aces before a record-setting crowd of half a million fans, The Concert in Central Park finds its stars just shy of their 40th birthdays and very much in their primes, their voices sweet and pure and their playing relaxed, perfectly in tune and in synch. The show features a mix of S&G and solo Simon tunes, including all the songs that appear on the CD, with the addition of a reprise of "Late in the Evening" and the first live performance of Simon's "The Late Great Johnny Ace." This is classic material from start to finish, 87 minutes of unmitigated beauty. --Michael Mikesell

the concert to own!.......2007-06-08
This reunion concert with Simon and Garfunkel in Central Park, recorded in 1981, was historically, a very important event for many of their fans fortunate enough to be present for the performance, as well as the rest of us who caught it on PBS, as part of one of their more successful pledge drive efforts. Though, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel had split over artistic and [no doubt] personality differences, this concert really was the bridge made over their troubled waters, to reacquaint two old friends together through the music that had brought them so close in the past.
Even twenty-six years later, you can feel the real passion that these two men have for music, and for the best songs from their repertoire. Paul Simon penned many great hits, during his time spent recording with Garfunkel in their musical partnership. They include songs like "Bridge Over Troubled Water," their interpretation of the traditional folk ballad, "Scarborough Fair," "America," "Mrs. Robinson," "Wake Up Little Susie," and a slew of other tunes. Those two have a haunting quality to their performances that truly sounds like a throwback to the era of minstrels from the middle ages, yet, the arrangements fuse "old" together with "new," sustaining their fanbase that they acquired in the 1960s, as well as newer listeners drawn in by the more modern arrangements. You will truly enjoy this concert, and its a great recording that you could easily watch over again numerous times, without losing interest.

Simon & Garfunkel - Central Park.......2007-01-16
Looked like a great concert, but this duo was sadly let down by the sound men. Their voices were largely drowned out by the music and background noise.

Description
Sammy Hagar And The Wabos - Livin' It Up Live! - Caught live in St Louis on their sold out 2006 US tour, Sammy And The Wabos bring down the house with songs from their new album, Livin' It Up, as well as some of Sammy's famed solo work. Joined on stage for the second half of the show by legendary Van Halen bassist, Michael Anthony, the band rips through some of rock radio's classic tunes. From "I Can't Drive 55" and "Mas Tequila" to "Finish What You Started" and "Right Now", it's one big Cabo party with the "Red Rocker"! December 6, 1978-it might have started before then but I'll never forget Sammy opening for Ted Nugent at the Checkerdome in St. Louis. Opening acts aren't supposed to have the audience in the palm of their hand but Sammy sure did. His honesty and sincerity captivated the audience. The relationship between this artist and this city would never be the same. Almost 30 years later Sammy is still honest, still sincere and now more than ever, holds the St. Louis audience in the palm of his hand with a shot of Cabo in the other. Sammy fans everywhere just want to know, "What is it with Sammy and St. Louis?" It could be the relationship between Sammy and KSHE radio which dates back to the early 70's and the Montrose days. It could be all of the great solo albums. It could be the days with Van Halen. I think it's a combination of all of the above magnified by the sweat and energy of 33 plus shows that over 500,000 diehard fans have witnessed in this city. Whatever this "thing" is between Sammy and St. Louis it's real, it's heartfelt and spiritual to a degree. Once you watch the DVD you might understand. Favazz--KSHE/St. Louis Songs: Miss Tequila, Mexico, There's Only One Way to Rock, Rainy Day Women (#12/#35), The Girl Gets Around, Rock Candy, I'll Fall in, Love Again, I'll Take You There, Sam I Am, Little White Lie, I Can't Drive 55, Heavy Metal, Good Enough, Summer Nights, Right Now, Finish What You Started, Best of Both Worlds, Fight for Your Right, Cabo Wabo

Liviv' It Up St. Louis.......2007-09-12
Sammy Hagar definately puts on the best concert ever! This is one great DVD to have. What a demonstration of giving back to his fans!! I have had the pleasure of being on stage at another concert on this tour--there is nothing that compares & this DVD lets me relive that experience any time I want to. Highly reccomend this to any Fan as a terrific substitute if you couldn't be there in person. Rock On Sam!! groopygirl
Rock on Sammy.......2007-08-16
What can I say?? It is Sammy once again at his finest!! Fun and full of energy...makes you want to get up and dance!
The Red Rocker is purely spectacular.......2007-08-03
If you have ever been to a Jimmy Buffet concert (Parrot Head)then you know that the music is the sound track to one hell of a party. This DVD just put Sammy Hagar and the Red Rockers of the world in the same category. This is great and I'm proud to be a member of the Red Rocker family. (Cabo Wabo anybody).
sammy somehow hangin' on.......2007-07-29
every time i try to hang up my sammy hagar shoes...he keeps draggin' me back into his world...this is a quality concert dvd, make no mistake about it, and even though its filmed in St Louis...it reminds me of the beautiful Concord Pavilion right here in the SF Bay Area as the sun is going down on a hot summer night...
That being said, i'm an old school hagar fan, and i'm dying for him to come out with the Three Lock Box concert that was originally aired on MTV (1983-84)...if you were to look up "rock and roll concert" in the dictionary, the definition would be "Sammy Hagar's 1983 Three Lock Box" concert, live in st louis. Sammy's creative juices were flowing at an all time high during this time period, while Standing Hampton & Three Lock Box are easily his two best albums...also, the version of Red on that concert video was the best i've ever seen...
Anyway, back to the topic at hand...this latest St Louis dvd is a good time to be had by all...good song selection, better overall sound quality than the Cabo Wabo Birthday Bash dvd. Everybody Must Get Stoned, aka Rainy Day Women, is an absolute necessity for a hagar show, and it was nice to hear a live version of Good Enough. Vic Johnson rocks all to hell, and genuinely seems like he's having a good time...I personally like when he launches into the hard rockin' Girl Gets Around...that's when I crank up the volume, along with Rock Candy...
There is a funny part of the show where sammy is talking to the crowd about the song Right Now, claiming that one night, he tells vic, hey bro, since we don't have the piano part for this song anymore, i need you to go home tonight, and work out the arrangements for this part on guitar...
and then vic comes back with this sh*t...i was laughing my ass off...
Another reviewer was right about Mona's vocals being badly mixed, it's actually quite embarrassing...doesn't sammy and the rest of his crew do a run through on the dvd before they decide to release it ??? or was this meant as some kind of joke or payback to Mona ???
The only other complaint I have about this show is the fact that...I find it comical that sammy has all these bikini girls on stage with him to try to turn it all into some big ole party for the younger crowd...isn't he a little old for this sorta thing???...I remember seeing him at Bone Bash at Shoreline Amphitheatre one year saying to the crowd "I NEED TO GET ME SOME PUSSAAAYYYY!!!" and i just cringed...and so did all the other hotties around me...whatever happened to it being just about the music...and in sammy's case, his unbelievable kick-ass catalog of songs??
Entertaining.......2007-07-27
I've seen Sammy Hagar more than a handful of times in concert. He is flat out entertaining and captivating. Although I'm from the STL area, this is still a must watch for any SH fans regardless of where you are from.
