Description
Live DVD meets tour diary docu-drama. 70 minute DVD featuring live performances in Champaign & Chicago plus re-enactments of life of the road. "People kept asking us when we were going to release a live album", explains Poster Children guitarist/vocalist Rick Valentin, "We always thought live albums were kind of boring, so when digital video technology started becoming affordable, we decided to make a movie instead. Lots of bands make live albums, but how many make their own movies? So we got a bunch of fans with cameras to tape us playing shows in Champaign and Chicago; we shot some scenes from Rose's tour diaries, then edited it all together in our lab."
Customer Reviews:
Good for what it is..........2003-05-22
If you want to get a feeling for a typical (does that exist?) life of an indie band on the road, this is a great one. For 70 minutes, the DVD alternates between a concert song (lots of angles, plenty of views of all the band members, and no annoying camera tricks or MTV-style frantic cutting - just a good "live vibe") and a "day in the life" home video-style footage of rest stops, trips to the mall, etc. in low-key, somewhat humorous style.
I've met this band in person (after a gig) and they are indeed the friendly, easygoing people you see in this DVD. Watching this, one wonders how a band is able to keep this up more than a year or two - the tedium! But clearly the joy of playing in front of an audience that's enjoying itself is the whole point. They know who they are and what they're about, and that's quite refreshing to see.
