Xiaohou and Xiaomao were twin brother and sister. Their father was a fisherman who died of a storm on the sea. Their mother had to work as a wet nurse in the boatman He's house. Xiaomao, Xiaohou and He's son Ziying grew up together. Ziying went abroad while Xiaohou and Xiaomao inherited their father's career and made a living by fishing. They led a hard life. Then they were robbed by bandits and their mother was blinded. They went to Shanghai to turn to their uncle for help. The brother and the sister sang songs at street with their uncle to make money and encountered Ziying who returned from abroad. Ziying gave them one hundred yuan. However, they were wronged by others because of the money and got imprisoned. Then their house caught a fire and mother and uncle both died in the fire. The brother and the sister were homeless. Ziying's father went bankrupt. Therefore the three went to catch fish on the sea. Xiaohou was injured severely while fishing and died. The song Yuguangqu was played......

Master Songwriter and Singer doin' what he does best!.......2007-01-26

Being a huge Paul Anka fan, (seeing him perform live over a dozen times)this DVD does not dissapoint. One Unique think about Mr. Anka is that his songs have "Evolved" over time and while still keeping their original feel, Paul has added new "flavors" to them. Some Outstanding performances on this DVD include a very touching duet with his Daughter (Do I love You) and a very warm sounding "Papa" as well as great rockin' versions of "She's a Lady" (sorry Tom, but Paul owns this one!) and two great Amercian tribute songs, "The Longest Day" and " Freedom". Both songs played with heartfelt emotion and soul. Paul Anka has withstood the test of time and has earned a well deserved place in musical history as one of the greatest "singer/songwriters" of modern times. If you like Anka, you will LOVE this great concert filmed recently in Las Vegas at the Mirage. Paul said it best..."You are my Destiny, that's what you are!"

No longer a teenager.......2006-04-06

As Paul Anka has grown older he has made some changes to his style. That is quite understandable although I must say Anka's melodramatic rendering of his own songs in the early days perhaps suited him best. But no one is an eternal teenager and to make himself more applicable to Las Vegas audiences and the like, Paul Anka sounds a little different these days and some of his new songs may sound somewhat strange to those who are not familiar with his sound and style after the early sixties.

Anka is a very polished performer and completely at ease with his audience. Whether you like the occasional changes in the lyrics is a matter of opinion. I don't object to them.

What I find completely unbelievable is the fact that Anka takes undeserved credit for 'My Way'. He says he wrote it, which is not true. Anka only wrote the English lyric for this French song, which was originally written by Claude Francois and Jacques Revaux. Anka obviously didn't realize that even though he can say anything in Las Vegas and people believe him, his DVD might be viewed by non-Americans as well.

Not what I expected.......2003-03-15

I have always been a paul anka fan. I have all of his greatest hits on albums and cherish them deeply, but when I came across this DVD, I expected a great singing performance, not a comic act. What happened with his original style of singing? Many of the songs had different melodic tones mixed with his comments to the audience. For example, when he sang Puppy Love, he was adding lyrics to his song by making a comment about a pregnant woman in the audience, which I found distastful. Overall, I expected an entertaining concert filled with his talent as showed in the past. If you are looking for a great Paul Anka concert, this is definitely not the one. I deeply regret ever buying this DVD. If anyone out there knows where to get a great concert of Paul Anka on DVD please let me know.

Brilliant concert.......2003-03-01

Paul Anka is one of the oldies legends. This concert DVD brings many great songs performed brilliantly by this amazing singer. The only drawback is the change of melodies and rythms of most of those songs. I think it's to make them different, and add a change to the show.
Where's the famous intro melody of "PAPA"? The song is performed nicely, but the original is certainly better.Instead of this, I enjoy this DVD on both sound (Dolby 5.1) and picture, and unfortunately this is the only live show available to Paul Anka on DVD.

Sit back and really enjoy this great artist perform for you in your living room.This DVD brings back great memories of days gone by.Paul Anka is still one of the great performers ever.I recommend it very highly.
