Sturdy production but few extras........2004-11-27

This production of "Lo speziale" (The Apothecary) is a typically silly opera buffa redeemed by Josef Haydn's delightful music. The orchestra and sound quality are excellent, the staging well-appointed, the voices enjoyable, the acting satisfactory. The extras include an hour of Haydn's string quartets. However there is no synopsis, no subtitles, although you do have the option of viewing the menu in Spanish!
