Almost Perfect.......2006-01-25

I am a HUMONGOUS Pumpkins fan and never saw them in concert, so buying this recently was a no-brainer.

I think Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness is the greatest album of all time.

Siamese Dream is definitely top 5 though.

It was such a pleasure seeing them perform live, especially 2 of my favorites in "Today" and especially "Soma", which was breathtaking.

Even more amazing was the "Lost Tapes" where they do "Hummer", among others, just great.

Also, they do another performance of "Soma" there which featured a violinist and added to the grandiose atmospherics of that AMAZING song.

My only complaint is with 2 of the songs, 2 of my favorites from the "Siamese" era....

"Disarm" and most especially "Mayonnaise".

They played "Disarm" in a hardcore version, which was impressive (especially Jimmy on drums) but lacked the intended and very effective mood of the acoustic album version, which was superb.

And "Mayonnaise" is the 2nd best Pumpkins song of all time (behind their watershed song "1979" which I feel is the best song ever recorded).

They played "Mayonnaise" acoustic and half heartedly in my opinion and that song in it's entirety on the "Siamese dream" record in it's original form is one of the most incredible songs you will ever hear, it was so emotional and my point is the performance on this DVD is very UNemotional with Billy even laughing at one point.

Don't get me wrong, I am a class A Pumpkinhead, but I have never seen "Disarm" or "Mayonnaise" live and thought I was getting them on here, other than that misstep, I loved it and will cherish it forever, although I hear that the Pumpkins are in fact reuniting to headline the Coachella festival in California next month.

No word yet on whether James or D'Arcy are "in" but the early indications are that James may be which would be enough for me.

Jimmy is already in and if D'Arcy is not, Melissa from Hole, who took over for D'arcy later on anyway, is ready to step in.

That news made my year !!!!!!!!!

Vintage Pumpkins.......2006-01-05

How amazing was this DVD? If you're a SP fan and into Gish & Siamese Dream, GET THIS! Your nuts if you dont. Comedic skits with the band and authentic concert footage & performances. Corgan is god. The end.

You'll never get bored!.......2005-12-22

This DVD has so many extras inbetween the live performances that add hilarity and much entertainment to the entire experience. Extras that were added to the DVD version include yet another entire live performance apparently pieced together from a few different shows and a SUPER funny documentary on the making of Siamese Dream. If you're just getting into the Pumpkins, this DVD would probably be a better introduction to the band than their Greatest Hits DVD (which is also awesome, by the way). This release captures the true spirit and humour of the band before the Mellon Collie era.

AND THE LIVE PERFORMANCE OF "SILVER****" IS SIMPLY AMAZING!!!"

This DVD has a Great content and it is worth the money for sure! Some bands can not reproduce the quality of their recorded music on their concerts but it is not the Smashing Pumpkins. They are better on their live performances, their music becoumes filled with more passion.

The above list is absolutley not complete, becouse we can see interviews with the band members, James talking about his dog Bug, Darcy performing a little girl playing with dolls, you can see how they recorded their album "siamese dream" - they show the studio and the equipments, and tell why they chose them for the album, and also there is Butch Vig from Garbage (he was the producer of the album, and someone from the record company visits them for checking and listens how they record the song "quiet". And then there is one hour long material from the Lollapalooza which is also great, becouse they play very differently, I mean they go more crazy then in London for example. There is only one thing I miss from here - as a Pumpkin fan, I have recorded their live concert in London Astoria from the MTV, and I can say they were very good then, and that concert should be here in full length!

A Fantastic Visual For Earphoria........2004-03-06

I Love The Smashing Pumpkins and this is some great live footage. It contains every track off of Earphoria except the instrumental " Why Am I So Tired? ". It also contains some funny skits with the band in between the live performances. Unlike Earphoria this DVD contains The Lost Tapes of '94. In other words it contains A whole other concert. This is great live footage and the skits are pretty funny. This is a must for you Pumpkin fans out there.

good stuff.......2004-07-10

seeing how this is the only live dvd the pumpkins have released so far, its worth buying for that alone. however, the is the "edited" version of the dvd and instead of muting his vocals the sound drops out altogether, which is a bit disappointing. another downer is that in the "lost 94 tapes" the sound drops out near the end when billy sings the song "over the rainbow" (i guess for legal purposes.)

with those aside, the performances are great including the acoustic versions of "mayonaise" and "cherub rock." and the skits are funny as well, such as the "meet the frogs" sketch. if you can't get ahold of the uncut version, this is the nest best thing.
