El regreso de Paul a los escenarios.......2007-09-09

McCartney regreso a las giras y conciertos en el año de 1989 despues de 13 años de ausencia. En aquel lapso de tiempo, pasaron importantes acontecimientos en la vida del segundo beatle. Habia estado 7 años en la carcel en Japon por encontrarsele marihuana en la maleta, llevandose el susto de su vida de casi pasar años en prision. Brujerias de madam Yoko decian por ahi. Su compinche John moria asesinado por el FBI y con el la esperanza de una reunion de los Beatles. Los Wings, al fin se disolvian. Un Paul mas maduro y con un disco en promocion, Flowers In The Dirt, se lanzaba a esta magica y misteriosa aventura. Paul realizo una estupenda gira mundial, su voz era aun fresca y no sonaba cansada como en sus ultimos conciertos del 2002 y 2006. Es obvio, esta mucho mas joven. Y es ahi en donde este DVD gana importancia. Es una mirada al Paul que hace cantar multitudes, aquel que demuestra su carisma y no le importa salir a escena al lado de su mujer, la recordada Linda. Paul registro en esta gira una de sus presentaciones mas celebradas, la de Rio de Janeiro, por alcanzar el record Guiness, con 184,368 personas .

22 temas en vivo presenta este DVD, lanzado en aquel tiempo como un Disco Laser. Ahora en formato DVD, este film es dirigido por Richard Lester, el mismo que dirigio las 2 primeras peliculas de los Fab Four. El error de Lester es mostrarnos un collage de imagenes de Paul en la epoca de los Beatles y Wings, mezcladas con las reacciones del publico. A quien le interesa el publico? Si lloran, rien, patalean, cantan, entran en ataque de histeria. Lo que importa es el performance de Paul y su banda. Pese a ese pequeño detalle, el disco suena y luce bien.

Wow!!!! I looooove this DVD (originally released in laser disc), amazing world tour. I think one of the best features in this dvd is the historical footage and videos. The setlist is absolutely great!

Holy Crap!.......2006-09-17

Wow, I have never seen such an energetic concert before. Everyone's having fun out there, and all his band mates are perfect in what they do. It's a shame he didn't reunite with them. They only problem is that they put footage of different arenas in one song. Like in Get Back, you first see Linda with this casual collared red shirt, and then it changes to this light blue jacket. Same goes with the drummer and Hamish. But the performance out-weighs that fault. This concert is like a dream Paul McCartney concert. I mean, Back in the US and Red Square was good, but the musicians weren't as talented as his old band. And back then Paul was younger, thus he had a lot more energy. I recommend this to any Beatles, Paul McCartney, or classic rock fan. This is a great concert film, maybe the best.

The ROCK SHOW 76 show would be nice, or any others that may have been recorded in the era!!

You are not a true Beatle fan if you don't like this.......2006-04-19

I was 12 when the Beatles hit the charts. This dvd to me was excellent! The songs and the flashback pictures were great for the die hard fan. I did not care for the political flashes during the song, "Live and Let Die" but most musicians have their own views on the world anyway. The music is excellent no matter what and the early photos were a treat! I would recommend this to the devoted fan of the Beatles!

Dig It.......2004-09-08

This is a DVD of Paul McCartney's 1989-90 world tour. Twenty tracks were selected and accompanied by enjoyable, but unnecessary, extra footage of the Beatles and the '60s. The concert is filmed very well, and Paul plays some of his best material. From the minute he kicks off "Band on the Run" to the moment he ends the beautiful Abbey Road medley, he never ceases to come through strong. Other highlights include "Put it There," "I Saw Her Standing There," "Back in the USSR" and "Let it Be." Paul, to me, is not 48 years old in this film. He still rocks as hard as he did at 22. Good work, Paul.

Get Back Forever!!!.......2003-11-06

I got the VHS version for this concert almost two years ago and it is great!!!, sound and image quality is excellent even given the fact that it is tape.

You might think that there are songs missing or interviews but the songs included are worth what you pay for it. Also, scenes that show audience enjoying the show makes you feel like if you were there too.

I like specially the way "Coming Up" is performed and the way old concert scenes are mixed in some songs, like for example, "Can't buy me love".

Hope to get the DVD version soon.

What a Shame.......2002-12-09

Paul hired old pal Richard Lester ("A Hard Days' Night") to direct this film, and boy, did Lester blow it. The 89/90 tour was fantastic, but this film captures none of the magic, and actually makes the tour look bad. I think Lester thought he was being artsy and relevant by mixing in all the sixties footage, but it seems utterly out of place and ruins the mood of each song.

...What Paul should do now is collect all that footage and hire someone to re-edit it and put out a new and improved DVD version.

This film of Paul's 1989/1990 has great moments but it has a few flaws. Only 20 of the 30+ songs are performed and some of Richard Lester's footage take away much of a song's worth. However, some of his little bits of footage work quite nice. Overall, the performances, color, sound, and filming is done quite well. The film is shot better than "Rock Show" but "Paul Is Live In The New World" is slighly better. To sum it up, a can't miss for Paul Mcartney/Beatles' fan.
