There is no plot. There are no actors. This is your brain... on trance. Paul Oakenfold's 2001 album of Goa trance remixes has been transformed into a multidimensional experience. (The liner notes define "Goa trance" as "a fusion of acid trance and tribal beats.") Ten London-based musicians, including Man With No Name and the Infinity Project, provide the pulsating soundtrack, while artist Yo Suzuki provides the 3-D visuals (don't worry--glasses are included). Over the course of 12 selections, vibrant abstract shapes "dance" to the beat as sampled voices occasionally jump into the fray. That's about it. If you were fascinated by kaleidoscopes as a child, laser shows as a teen, and 2001: A Space Odyssey as an adult, this DVD is for you. While there is little (obvious) variation between tracks, trance isn't about jarring juxtapositions and A Voyage Into Trance is one smooth audiovisual ride. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

Good Music But it doesnt have videos. Just games of lights.

5 out of 5 stars I disagree with the opinion this is for hardcore fans only.......2005-01-26

It's not very often a good recording like Voyage Into Trance comes along. Oakenfold recorded this disc some 10 years ago and has gone back and remastered it.
This is not new.

The reason you would want to own this, however, is because you get some very cool trance tracks mastered into Dolby Digital 5.1
If you have a home theatrte system and you love trance - this is the DVD for you.

Oh and if you like this pick up Underworld - Everything, Everything as well.

4 out of 5 stars Stunning visuals with Oakenfold's vibes.......2004-05-20

As I was loaned a copy, set down and adjusted the 3D glasses, and saying, "Oh, Brother, done this before.",I was ready to be disappointed.
However, who-ever did the visuals has to be commended. NICE JOB!
Yes, about 90% of the 3D visuals work, and there's some repetition (as in the trance music itself (duh)). But there are some parts that will have you laughing and/or saying to yourself, "That's the way 3D is supposed to be".

The music breaks no new ground, as it is "old" Oakenfold, but the music combined with the fun 3D is worth the novelty of the disc. Hear it on a 5.1 system, and as usual the music effects are/ sounds great! In fact, as I write this, I'm buying my own copy, and sending one to a friend. Just for fun.

When was the last time YOU had fun listening to a DVD music disc?

4 out of 5 stars Great DVD.......2004-04-13

This DVD is Paul Oakenfolds Voyage into Trance with Chromadepth 3d visuals. I'm glad I purchased this although I already owned the CD. The visuals make it worth the buy if thats what your looking for. The DVD only comes with 1 set of glasses. I wanted more so others could watch with me and they are available online for purchase. When purchasing them everywhere had a choice between regular glasses and HD glasses for the same price. Their explanation was that the HD is for movies, regular are for still pics/comics. When they arrived I soon realized the DVD comes with the regular glasses and there is definately a noticeable difference. I would recommed getting the HDs especially if your looking to get more so others may view as well. Overall I recommed purchasing this.

3 out of 5 stars Some Good, Some Not So Good...........2004-03-10

Oakenfold rules the treance/techno scene. That's a given. He's nowhere to be found on this DVD though. It is just his album, basically, with a light and laser show. You could get the same effect playing the CD on your computer and watching the show that Windows Player shows. This is just for true fans who rewally feel the need to collect everything with Oakenfold's name on it. Good addition to the collection, though.

5 out of 5 stars PLEASE COME TO U.S........2006-04-28

In 2005, Faithless,(DJ Rollo, Sister Bliss and Maxi Jazz) celebrated 10 years together. This DVD features the band performing their hits onstage and in music videos. Songs include "Salva Mea," "Don't Leave," "God Is a DJ," "Take the Long Way Home," "Bring My Family Back," "Tarantula," "Mass Destruction," "Muhammad Ali" and "I Want More."

This band is phenomenal! Those who are fans know exactly what I'm talking about. I don't know why they don't come to the U.S. but I REALLY wish that they would. Check them out in a rare live performance on DVD "Live at Alexandra Palace".

If you like Dido (DJ Rollo's sis), Massive Attack, Groove Armada and other similiar acts you'll absolutely love FAITHLESS.

Until a U.S. tour this all we have. Come to the U.S.!!

1 out of 5 stars bites big time.......2002-06-26

don't buy this dvd. i thought it would be good because the concept sounded great, space visuals and techno - heck yea! i know my techno, for over 14 years, and the music is awful. also it's not even mixed music on the dvd. it sounds like a bunch of b-side tracks they wanted to pimp out on some gimmick. they even ruined some of the NASA videos my jerking them around to match the music. much more irritating then relaxing. i rarely return things to amazon but this one i will simply because it's so bad.

4 out of 5 stars Great non CGI DVD.......2002-04-08

I really liked the idea behind this DVD. This seemed to be targeted to the club/Rave generation. The music on this DVD was not really my style, however it worked well with the visual content. You can put your own music to it as well. I really enjoyed the space videos put in to a club type video format. If you're a video jockey at a nightclub, or DJ like me, this will be a welcome addition to your set.

I was looking for something cool to watch and someone recommended me this --- excellent chill out music with great visuals from NASA space missions. Recommended for all you sofa-djs.

Since 1992, Moonshine Music has been serving up the freshest in electronic music. AV:X.05: Transambient 2, a product of subsidiary Moonshine Movies, features seven instrumental tracks set to corresponding visual imagery. These 12-minute "tone poems" (for lack of a better term) were originally broadcast on Britain's Channel 4 from 1998 to 1999. While they aren't exactly videos, they aren't short films either (there are no story lines, subtitles, etc.), and while the music isn't exactly New Age, it isn't techno either, but breakbeat, drum & bass, and trance. Watch as fireworks explode in the air, clouds sweep across the sky, and countless other scenes from everyday life move and pulse to the ambient beat. Spiral3, Visual Cortex, and the other artists have produced sounds and visions designed for maximum "chill out" pleasure--the perfect thing to slip on during a social gathering to encourage mingling, but not dancing or rocking out. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

5 out of 5 stars Truly a mind expanding journey.......2005-10-17

This is the best movie to trip to I have come across yet. I sat for the whole hour and a half with the most intense feelings of joy and wonder. Each scene seems to have an overall message of unity. -many, many brain orgasms.

1 out of 5 stars generic fluff.......2005-01-08

music: generic fluffy trancey wallpaper and preset jungle beats, completely forgettable. here and there some of the ambient parts were nice, then right back into canned beats.

visuals: ten or twenty years ago this might have blown me away. now it looks like a teenager got a DV camera for his/her birthday and a bunch of speed and decided to make a random spew of unremarkable imagery. totally random, no flow whatsoever, just spastic, flailing about like a fish on the sand. perhaps 5% of the imagery was worth seeing again, but that's hardly worth sitting through the rest of it. in this age of easy access to powerful tools, there's no excuse for putting amateur stuff like this on DVD. keep looking.

4 out of 5 stars Cool!!!.......2003-02-19

It is nice to listen and the images are cool to see them in a "good state of mind" something that should be improved is to put all continous tracks.

3 out of 5 stars good but a missed opportunity.......2002-12-19

As a video, I expected much more. The visuals are too repetitive and seem to be just thrown together. There is way too much use of the "zoom around a single frame" effect in order to fill time. With that said, it is still a fun experience and some tracks are good, but it could have been awesome if they spent more time on it.
As an audio-dvd, the music fares better. I often listen to this DVD through my stereo while just hanging around the apartment or cleaning.
This is a great idea, but somewhere it has to have been done better..

4 out of 5 stars A welcomed idea.......2002-04-08

I like the idea behind this DVD. Most of the music on this DVD was Drum -n- Bass. I'm not a big fan of such music, but the visuals were very good. I normaly like digital grafix, but this had a lot of movment and will work well as avideo back drop in a club enviornment.

4 out of 5 stars Mixmasters Doesn't Dissapoint.......2003-09-18

This DVD is my first experience with any of the Mixmasters Series and let me say I was not disappointed. The music is top notch from some unsigned D.J.'s that you might never have heard of. The music isnt'just trance, it's house, downbeat, trance, deep house, and some progressive. Tracks 2 is great and 3 is downright amazing. Track 1 is average,4 is terrible(only the visuals, music rocks) and 5 and 6 are good also. All in all the DVD is worth the buy specifically for the music(I listen to it without the visuals.),but some of the visuals are amazing. So I'd without a doubt recommend the DVD,I ordered 3 more after watching this one.So sit back, use whatever it is you use to relax and enjoy.Lastly, I would definetly say a big screen and a good audio system help tremendously if you have access.

This DVD was good, but could have been better. I did enjoy the visuals. The music is mostly Drum-n-bass, which is ok, but not really my style. Putting the DJ intreviews in the DVD was a nice bonus. I hope this studio will do more of that with there future releses.
